It's time for Rand Paul to unleash Ron Paul

It may actually be too late already but it's December. There is less of a buzz around here than there was in December of 2011. What does he have to lose now? It's obvious that he can't bring out the enthusiasm and energy that his dad can. I think its time he shook things up.

I agree that Ron would be a great asset and he is needed on the campaign trail.

I disagree it is "obvious" Rand can't bring out enthusiasm. Rand is bringing out hundreds of students to his college campus visits, Ron was doing hundreds in his campaign stops around this time too. Ron didn't start getting thousands until it was just down to delegate strategy and he started touring the country on his education campaign.

Caucus isn't until February. Few weeks from now is the perfect time to unleash Ron, in my opinion.

Should have never shy'd away from dad in the first place.

Agree. A January tour to Iowa college campuses would be great. If it works, New Hampshire would be next.

Iowa is important but how good are they at picking the eventual nominee? Let's not forget about NH and it's importance going forward.

Not going to happen right now, at least not in the ways some of you want it to happen:

Gee, to think . . . Ron Paul visits in early caucus states of Iowa, Nevada, Colorado . . .
get some support up for that Secretary of State spot.

.

Rand has to do something. When he first announced, anytime he posted something on FB, it would get sometimes over 10,000 likes. Now when he posts something, he's lucky if it gets over 100 likes.

That has more to do with FB's algorithm than anything.

Ron won't say the things he needs to in order to be of assistance to Rand. Plus he has too much baggage. Involving Ron, especially on the ground in a key state, is a bad idea.

At least 80% of the people I speak to in NH who don't already support Rand, confuse Rand and Ron and I don't believe they know they're two different people anyway. I don't think Ron's "baggage" will be hurting Rand's few percentage points in the polls. I live in a small NH town and a lot of the 65+ year old previous Ron Paul supporters are driving around town with Trump stickers on their trucks now. They obviously never fully understood the message and ideas of liberty but these people are critical to winning this state and they're looking for someone like Ron who isn't afraid to speak the truth boldly. Rand shouldn't need Ron to say things to assist him, he should be saying these things himself just like he did in 2010.

I personally believe Rand should be running back to Ron right about now, or maybe in a couple weeks. I wouldn't wait too much longer or 2016 will be out of reach for sure. I'd love to have a date on the calendar when Ron would be in NH campaigning for Rand, I'm sure it would be a HUGE turn out and I'm sure it would bring a lot of people on the sidelines in for 2016 that haven't been able to get excited this election as in 2008 and 2012.

Or we could stay the course and with any luck finish around 9% in NH and vote harder in 2020. :toady:

Yeah, the campaign would be worried about all that baggage of the grassroots voters/caucus-going constitutionalists.

Ron is unlikely to make a difference. He wouldn't be allowed to go off the rails anyway because saying anything that conflicts with Rand's campaign message is a bad idea. There are absolutely things that the campaign could be doing better, but I put the blame on the voters themselves for their own lack of energy, whining about details and not recognizing one of their own, instead of rallying non-liberty voters to the liberty cause. The campaign feeds off the energy of the grassroots and the grassroots is worn out and tired from Ron's failed runs.

It's ok, the campaign is in better shape now without them. They have Rand out there giving people the circle jerk, and Collins behind the scenes going over the internal polling showing that Rand is just holding off guys like Gilmore and Pataki.

Yeah, I would have agreed with that a year ago.

At this point, it can't hurt.

If Rand can't even get above 5% by himself, there's no point bringing in Ron. If he starts surging, sure, bring in Ron.
