Islamic extremist kills 50 at Orlando gay nightclub

I've seen this said numerous times for other incidents. Nothing unraveled with Sandy Hook, Oregon refuge, etc. Not even the big kahuna 9/11.

The story only has to have enough legs to outlast our collective attention span. And purportedly, "they" control that too.

Next.

What has been the outcome of those incidences?

The PA
More gun control
More BML take over and power

Just to name a few.

I've never heard of gay guys objecting to being packed in like sardines.

Indeed, I get the impression they'll even bring their own oil...

And here's a view of the place on google maps that agree. There's only 8 parking spots and not very many spots elsewhere to park. How can they get over 100 people in there and there's an easy way out through the patio...

Did a delay in response give the gunman more time? Cops face questions over why it took three hours for SWAT teams to storm Orlando nightclub as police chief admits officers may have shot some of the VICTIMS

...Police Chief John Mina has also admitted that some of the victims may have been hit by officers' gun fire.

However he insisted it is a part of the investigation into the horrific attack.

He said: 'I will say that is all part of the investigation. But I will say when our SWAT officers, about eight or nine officers, opened fire, their backdrop was a concrete wall. And they were being fired upon, so that is all part of the investigation.'

The decisions made by Orlando police made them targets for scrutiny among experts in police tactics.

They said the lessons learned from other mass shootings show that officers must get inside swiftly — even at great risk — to stop the threat and save lives.
'We live in a different world. And action beats inaction 100 per cent of the time,' said Chris Grollnek, an expert on active-shooter tactics and a retired police officer and SWAT team member.

Authorities in Orlando say the situation changed from an active-shooter scenario to a hostage situation once gunman Mateen made it into one of the bathrooms where club-goers were hiding.

He first had a shootout with the off-duty officer at the club's entrance.

Then two other officers arrived and the firing continued.

Experts say there's a big difference between responding to a lone gunman and a shooter who has hostages.

In active-shooter situations, police are now trained to respond immediately, even if only one or two officers are available to confront the suspect.
In a hostage crisis, law enforcement generally tries to negotiate.

Once in the restroom, Mateen called 911 and made statements pledging allegiance to the Islamic State, Orlando Police Chief John Mina said Monday.
That's when the shooting stopped and hostage negotiators began talking with him, the chief said.

'We had a team of crisis negotiators that talked to the suspect, trying to get as much information as possible, what we could do to help resolve the situation... He wasn't asking a whole lot, and we were doing most of the asking,' Mina said.

But Mateen soon began talking about explosives and bombs, leading Mina to decide about 5am to detonate an explosive on an exterior wall to prevent potentially greater loss of life.

The explosives did not penetrate the wall completely, so an armored vehicle was used to punch a two-foot-by-three-foot hole in the wall about two feet from the ground.
'We knew there would be an imminent loss of life,' Mina said.

Hostages started running out, as did Mateen, who was killed in a shootout with SWAT team members.
It turned out there were no explosives.

They couldn't stop him from going in, despite having him outnumbered 3-1. They say action beats inaction, but putzed around for three hours. They had him blathering at them from the restroom, but didn't pull the fire alarm and evacuate the place. There were multiple doors to sneak in and at least one large window, but they announced they were coming by exploding ineffective bombs against the wall and playing with their battering ram. And they never seem to have used the firemen's ladders to evacuate the patio, and un-barricade the patio door so more could escape.

These guys make the Keystone Kops look good.

Orlando shooter’s wife knew about his plot

Authorities are weighing criminal charges against the wife of homegrown terrorist Omar Mateen after she admitted having tried to talk him out of launching his deadly attack on a gay nightclub, a law-enforcement source told The Post on Tuesday.

Noor Salman told the FBI that she once drove her hubby to the Pulse gay nightclub in Orlando, Fla., before he went on the rampage that killed 49 patrons there early Sunday, the source said.

Salman said she tried to convince Mateen not to do anything, the source said.

She also allegedly admitted that she accompanied him when he bought ammo and a holster.

I hate having to always think there's a conspiracy but here's a "graphic" of the floor plan at the Pulse. I can't see how there were over 100 people in that small building. Tell me I'm wrong and I'm not getting proper perspective on this building...

Damn, ya, this graphic makes it look pretty small:

I've been in some pretty small night clubs that have had 200-300+ people in them, though, and that graphic may be a little misleading with the large furniture but not sure.

Usually you can park at other businesses if they're closed, and most folks would use Uber or some other means of getting there. Hell, the parking at the building itself was likely for employees/entertainment. There is street parking as well. I'm not sure why people don't bother taking two seconds to go to street view and confirm this for themselves.

There's also a small grassy field next to the building which shows very little growth and has a sidewalk leading to the building. One could surmise that people park on that lawn.

Clicking through the photos at the bottom, there are numerous large areas for seating, with huge couches curved around tables, and a number of bar stools. It's listed at nearly 4500 square feet.

Miami paper:

Di’Costa said that on most nights, Pulse would be filled with between 500 and 600 patrons, but that on a “high capacity” night like Saturday, up to 800 people might be there.

The shooting happened about closing time, so probably fewer people were still at the club, he said.

“Saturdays are Latin nights, so it’s primarily Latinos of all ages,” he said. “It’s usually a later crowd, so people come closer to the close of the club. They close at 2. It was right at the time of closing, when people are starting to exit.”

First image looks like there is a second level over some of it.

Officers may have shot Orlando club patrons

No Idea,, but it ain't what it was presented as.

And How many people were shot by police?

Monday, Orlando Police Chief John Mina and other law enforcement officers offered new details about the shooting, including the possibility that some victims may have been killed by officers trying to save them.

“I will say this, that’s all part of the investigation,” Mina said. “But I will say when our SWAT officers, about eight or nine officers, opened fire, the backdrop was a concrete wall, and they were being fired upon.”

A law enforcement source close to the investigation who asked not to be named said a crowd of up to 300 people and the complex layout of the dance club may have resulted in some patrons being struck by gunfire from officers.

Something I'm curious about is the shooter was reported (not sure if this accurate) sitting at the bar having last call. Then he exists the bar (to get a weapon(s) presumably). A shoot out occurs outside. What is the timeline on that? Was there any outside shooting before the shooter came back into the bar or did cops arrive after 911 calls? Also, did anyone identify the shooter after he came back into the bar? IOW, is there any video (bar front door, especially) or eyewitness account that the man we've been told did it and who had been at the bar is the same guy who came back in?

I want to know why we have videos of supposedly injured people being carried from up the block TOWARD the night club by groups of civilians (actors?)? And if you find the video of Mr or Ms red shoes, as soon as they think they are out of camera shot the set him down on his feet and start standing around and joking with each other, WTH?
