Is there less enthusiasm for 2012 than in 2008?

Four years ago Dr Paul had less then 3% support. I don't think he had any meetup groups, no officail twitter or facebook groups.

This, and the fact that it is still very early in the campaign. I really got involved after the Dec 16 moneybomb, and I kind of wondered whether there were ANY SUPPORTERS as early as September 2007! Seems like all the activity was November +.

These threads are all too common. I think the main thing that people fail to realize is deeply seeded in our minds (and our media from 2008) was the overall scope of the ENTIRE 2008 campaign and the tremendous groundbreaking grassroots required to break into the mainstream.

Well guess what, Ron Paul is now mainstream. He is opening campaign offices like a frontrunner, hes polling like a frontrunner, hes fundraising like a frontrunner, tommorrow we are hoping to show decent support to a PAC which we never had, we are running professional commercials, we have massive showings at the biggest rallys. The 2008 run was a blast, but none of this existed back then. There are many many things different this time around.

Don't slack on your support. The huge exciting events simply take place closer to the primary (because the average person doesn't invest this far out). The huge fundraising, the huge rallys, and the real excitement are still to come.

Don't hinder your efforts. Do everything you can and those later surges will benefit in multiples. Revolution.........GO!

Support for Ron Paul is high among average Republicans, compared to last time. As others have pointed out, the Anti-War left is apathetic to our cause, many find Ron Paul more as a threat, then as a spoiler in the last election. The die-hard supporters have simply expended themselves to their limits, and the general Republican supporter won't give money until one of the Republican contenders gets the nod.

So yes, it may appear Ron Paul has less support, but in reality he has more, just less donors, but that will all change if we can help Ron Paul get the Republican nomination. Once Ron Paul gets the Republican nomination, the so-called establishment Republicans will come out in full force. Even Dick Cheney, George Bush, and Rush Limbaugh, would lose face if Ron Paul got the nod, and they didn't come out and support him. Anyone who doesn't officially donate to the Ron Paul campaign, after he gets the nod, will truly be responsible for giving Obama 4 more years. It would be the kiss of death politically for any establishment Republican if they didn't support Ron Paul!

I was an Obamabot last election. This is the first time I am truly happy about supporting someone for president.

This is the main bullet point to be considered in a discussion like this. It's still fairly early in the process, and outside of any major stumbling blocks, things are only going to get better.

Awesome videos!! We are working on social media marches as well on our site http://socialmediamarch.org so we can enhance the online movement that is taking place. We want to help get the word out as well. I am going to add these videos to our site if that is cool with you. Please let me know.

There was some meetup groups in August 2007. I went back to correct my post, but I also note some called for new meetup groups going out in December 2007. So there is still some time. Yes, November was an active time in 2007 when new people came in. Also must of been some organisation for the November 5th moneybomb, so therefore think much activity in October 2007 also.

We donated twice! We do need more donors! Even if all you can give is $5..every penny helps when you have MASS numbers...

Sure thing! Feel free to use whatever you want. :)

The tone is different. I'd say our views have become rather mainstream, and because of that there's less..... anger on our side.

I think of it like this 2007 was like an explosion - it was new, plus the war, hatred of bush, ect after 2007/2008 the fire kept spreading and now the fire is covering much more area but not raging as much.

I think the fire is raging just as much, it's just that it's striking fewer people as overblown and more people as completely justified. Which, of course, takes a lot of wind out of the sails of the MSM when they try to paint us as extremists, because they would run the risk of reminding Mom and Pop America just how much they have to be pissed about.

I was in this group until about July. I put so much effort and money into the 2008 campaign that I was totally burned out. I tried not to even think about politics for a couple of years because the whole 2008 campaign was so heartbreaking.

It's not politics as usual for Ron Paul people, it's total commitment.

^This exactly. After the disappointing results in NH I had to take a very long break from everything Ron Paul. I think there are others who felt the same way, so they are hesitant to get back into it. It's not like we lost their support though. I feel like we have a huge army of supporters simply waiting to be awakened.

I'm sort of taking a back seat for number of reasons, not least of which is financial.

But there is another reason, and that is that my "brand" of outlaw campaigning, both in word and deed, is no longer...wanted?...is the word I'm looking for.

I've gotten the message loud and clear, that this is a "mainstream" campaign to win, not to "educate", and that my style of "extremism" just does more harm than good.

Very well then. I'll sit in the corner and be good and of course continue to talk up Ron Paul to whomever will listen, donate when I can, but you can't do that and then expect levels of over the top grassroots enthusiasm like you had in 2007/2008.

In fact, the OP of this thread is on record many times suggesting people that think like me need to be "purged" and silenced about what we believe, so I find it odd that he now laments a lack of enthusiasm out on the hustings.

I'm not trying to be a debbie downer, but rather trying to figure out how to fix things.

I could be completely off the mark here, but to me, it feels like we don't have local groups doing as much work on the ground nor are we doing our own projects as a national group.

Last time around, local groups were making signs, putting them up, etc. Videos began appearing in May. So far, the only local group I've seen pictures or a video of has been the OC group that has been doing tables.

It also seems like Meetup.com is not the main communication device and Faceook has replaced it...yet nothing has replaced many now-defunct Meetup groups

Additionally, I recall from 2008 that we all donated to run ads in Iowa for the Straw Poll, organized the event in Iowa during the Taxpayers/Christian fiasco, etc.

Is it that the campaign is now doing these things?

What's going on and how can we change it?

Organized support - MUCH LESS!

General support - MUCH MORE!

That means and I have seen that we really suck! - a lot less is happening. I really wish I knew how to change this. It could cost us the election.

Keep doin watch you've been doing for the 2012 cycle and keep donating!
