Is there any way to persuade Paul to offer veep to Kucinich, and soon?

Would that help Paul or hurt him? I think Kucinich is a principled guy and all...but "Department of Peace"?....To me that naivete is dangerous...
That's alot of hippy bull and not indicitive of human nature. IMO :)

I have no doubt that Kucinich would help, if he were offered and accepted. It should be obvious to all that people would vote for the ticket that would not if it were Paul and someone else.

However, it's also obvious that he would lose votes too, because of it. Would it hurt more than it would help? Not sure.

And the Department of Peace thing is grandstanding to make a point, more than it is solid policy, I think. Kucinich would no doubt be happy to help put a tighter leash on the Department of War, as would I. Was Paul really wanting to declare war against Iraq when he introduced that? Hell no, he was just making a point. I think some of Kucinich's stuff is the same way (though, not all of it).

DailyKos had some links that seemed to check out, and both have rejected it, so it's all moot anyway. I still hope that Kucinich could somehow turn it around and get the nomination of the democrats... better him than someone who'll keep the war going.

Besides which, Kucinich seems to have a bad case of Ron Paul envy. I'm nowhere near as enamored of him as VP as I was a month ago.

So, I get PMed to me this steaming heap of shit as our buddy Kade's "proof" that Dr. Paul is determined to create a theocracy in America.

If I had to, I'd be hard pressed to find a bigger collection of stereotype, characterization, mischaracterization, distortion, non sequitur, delusions and out-and-out lies concerning what Dr. Paul's real thoughts on a federally established religion truly are.




And I'm an agnostic, skippy.

Kucinich as VP? Never, but a cabinet member? Maybe, depends on which post. Head of a new special independent committee on 9/11? Yes. Or a similar corruption probe of Blackwater, Haliburton, et al? Yes! Or as chair of a project to fully open ALL the juicy CIA, DIA, DHS etc. files, so we can finally expose the underbelly and entrails of the whole corporate welfare media-military industrial complex? YES!!!!

What do the rest of you think? Is a cabinet post out of the question, or would this be another 20 replies of semi-literate "nononono I won't vote for Paul then" ?
 
Kucinich does carry a copy of the constitution around in his pocket.

They might agree on more then we know.

Of course, what government does and how it does it they obviously differ.

Nobody here is suggesting that he is a bad candidate because he is a Democrat. People are suggesting that he is a social and fiscal liberal - the polar opposite of Congressman Paul.

I know he's a nice guy, and he's an honest guy. I do not agree with him politically, therefore I don't want him to be the VP.

While I would certainly dislike the idea of Kucinich as a VP, and it would make me cringe to think he's so close to the presidency, that wouldn't pull my vote away from Ron Paul. Getting Paul elected is too important, even if his choice of VP is bad. On a side note, naming Kucinich his VP would seem to be a political move (to garner support from that side), not a practical one (where they would agree on most issues), so I don't think he'd do it.

But regarding a member of his cabinet as a previous poster mentioned.. I think that might be an excellent idea.

I find it odd that he carries that around, and then virtually everything out of his mouth (except regarding the war and the Patriot Act) seem to fly in the face of the Constitution, unless he's proposing amendments to allow the government to do all of these things he wants them to do.
 
he should just offer kucinich a position as secretary of defense

My understanding of Kucinich's position on issues (and correct me if I'm wrong) is that he wants to expand federal involvement in education, health care, retirement, and many other things. None of these are authorized by the constitution, so an amendment would be needed to allow them.

There are many things the federal government does that they are not authorized to do, and that is certainly the primary problem with our government. Social Security is not authorized, Medicare is not authorized, the Department of Education is not authorized, the Patriot Act is not authorized, federal drug laws are not authorized, a federal Amber Alert system is not authorized, the EPA is not authorized; and the list goes on.

While Kucinich is against the war on drugs and the Patriot Act, I believe he would not only want to continue but possibly expand the rest of the areas I've listed. If he understands that little book that he carries around in his pocket, then he knows that all of these would need amendments passed first. If he did these things without amendments first being passed, then he's no better or more honorable then the rest of the candidates that ignore the law.
 
I love kucinich but I don't think it'd be a good idea.

It'd really put off a lot of conservatives if he ran with such a left wing person.

Kucinich is stuck with the apathy of the democrats and I feel sorry for him, he's a great man just like the good Dr., but Ron has to keep his eyes on the prize, not try to bring kucinich into the race.
 
We all know that Dr. Paul is highly intelligent and experienced. He will pick the right VP for him. We really have no place to even recommend a VP to him. We trust him to make a great decision. So, let’s get back to the important tasks at hand.
