In today's world "Class" and "Race" are the same thing on many levels...

But since it's Obama and the democrats coming up with this rule I would say that it would boil down to race only for them. Who is paying money to become darker other than whites?

White = decendents of the indigenous people of Europe. So, I don't consider Mestizos white and the whole culture of central and south america revolves around trying to marry someone with a lighter complexion than yourself. Don't see to many of them hitting the tanning beds.

Amoung East Indians it's the same. Caste system originally based on complexion = no skin tanners. Plus half of them are pretty dark already.

Odd. Every woman I know who would have tanlines uses a tanning bed or tans naked to get a "baseline" color settled, so they don't look like crap one spring/summer kick into gear. That includes a lot of people you wouldn't consider "white." I enjoy having an even skintone, myself, but the sun is far more convenient than using a tanning bed.

The wealthy were to be the ones paying th taxes, but I know of no wealthy person who uses these places to get a tan. Instead, they hang out by their pools or go to that untaxed tanning salon called'The Beach'. This is a lower and primarily middle class expense, much like all the vice taxes have become. If you want to smoke, drink alcoholic beverages, and now tan, this will not stop you if you are wealthy. The middle class will simply be hit with something else.

Have you ever been to South America? I am pretty sure they do more than just try to marry someone who has lighter skin than themselves.

Let's see, we give bankers and mortgage companies tax breaks (corporate welfare) via the mortgage deduction (which also benefits those with larger mortgages). Those bankers are so deserving of a tax break!

Then, we will put a punitive tax on small tanning businesses. That makes a lot of sense. Not. Or maybe just people in the real estate and mortgage industry use tanning salons? Then it just means they are trying to "claw back" some of the banker welfare. Yeah, that makes sense.

They can just structure the tanning fees differently...ie: charge them for lotion, glasses, and let them tan for free..lets see what is 10% of 0......
