Yes, he's popular in CT, but I don't care for him. He's popular because he gets federal dollars spent in CT.

So long as we have a system of sending our dollars to DC and then sending our representatives to fight for a share of those dollars, we'll have the corruption that exists today.

An endorsement from Lieberman is about the same as white supremacists endorsing Dr. Paul.

SHOCK AND AWE. Joe "ChickenHawk" Lieberman backs John "TurkeyHawk" McCain.

Both support global war, both support amnesty, both support destroying this country. I can't believe people even report on McCain anymore … why does MSM continue to hang on to obvious dead nobodies who are going nowhere?

Its a blow to Ghouls

not to get the zionist vote in CT. But Old Joe was a loser this year and had to pull all the tricks out of the book to maintain power, he is all done next time out. He is Israel's #1 man. Bombs Away Joe Lieberman.

Isn't Lieberman the senator from Tel Aviv? He sure doesn't represent us.

Actually, that's pretty offensive. Just because someone is Jewish doesn't mean that they take their marching orders from Israel.

There are so many myths about Israel's effects on our foreign policy. For one: Israel didn't want us to invade Iraq. They warned us that:

A) Saddam didn't have WMD.
B) It would turn into a massive quagmire that we'd be stuck in for years.

Israel knows a hell of a lot more about the middle east than america does. Bush just didn't listen to them.

Yeah if you support unconstiutional wars. He wrote the legislation to allow for us going into Iraq, and then into Iran.

Haven't gone into Iran yet.

But he is scum.

So from our perspective the endorsement isn't good.

From the neo con perspective it is. Make sense? :D

We do need some major endorsements from other politicians and celebs though!

I'm mixed on Lieberman. He seems like a really nice guy, very kind and principled. I just disagree with almost all of his politics.

I do try to separate the person from the politics. Like, George W Bush seems like a nice person as well. I just hate his politics. I'd want to have a beer and watch a baseball game with him. I just don't want him President:D

The thing about Lieberman is that he's a Democrat! Oh sure, he's an independent because he lost the Democratic nomination, but he sits in caucus with the Democrats. He specifically said he would support Democrats even though they booted him out.

Oh well, McCain prides himself on his Democratic leanings, so this is a match made to order.

Again, it's pretty easy to get accused of anti-semitism when you say stuff like that. I don't make character judgments on people I don't know... but saying that somebody just takes their marching orders from Israel simply because they're Jewish is ridiculous.

Like I said in a previous post, Israel did not WANT us to attack Iraq. We went in there against their strong objections. So I'm sure Israel wasn't happy that Lieberman pushed for the war.

Dr. Paul talks about this: Israel simply needs to be left alone. They know the middle east better than we do. And they can defend themselves. They don't need us fighting their wars for them.

Dr. Paul doesn't sit around bashing Israel. He simply wants us to butt out of their business.

Lieberman won his seat as an "Independent" with Republican backing. Most of the Dems stayed in their own camp and he faced no credible GOP opponent that year.

I think Dems have more disgust with him... He could not hold his seat if a serious Republican and Democrat challenge it at once.

I think McCain wants this because he thinks it will turn independents out to vote for him. I don't think this will work.

In CT Lieberman only won because the Republicans ran an unknown candidate, gave him no support, and then the entire party voted for Lieberman. Independents and most Democrats voted for the anti-war democrat. He also managed to turn out the cities, I think because they are familiar with him giving them handouts.

If McCain thinks this is going to get independents to jump onto his campaign he's nuts. Independents want out of Iraq so I don't see how adding the Democrats only clear cut hawk is going to help.

Lieberman lost the senate election last year but he was too sore a loser to drop out respectfully

Actually, Lieberman went through a lot of what Dr. Paul went through. The Democratic establishment didn't want Lieberman, and heavily funded an opponent against him in the primary. But Lieberman is incredibly popular in Connecticut, so even though he lost the primary he was able to easily carry the general election.

Dr. Paul managed to survive his primary when the party spent millions to get rid of him. But he still went through the same issue - the party base fought against him because he didn't toe the party line on all of the issues. And, like Lieberman, he was very popular amongst the people in his district. So he was sure to carry the general election. But the party was more concerned with platform purity than just winning general elections...
