Is EDM (Electronic Dance Music) in a bubble?

Yeah, I thought the same, but at least he can see it and recognize it within his own industry and possibly prepare for it. Maybe being a RP supporter and knowing the issues surrounding the support may have led him to the conclusion.

The good thing about pop music is that as an "investment" is pretty predictable. 5-10 years (maybe less, depending) is the typical lifespan of a pop band at its most profitable point in my experience. So the retailers, ticket sellers, etc can plan accordingly.

The bubble for super high paid commercial dj's signed to big labels will burst. Festival promoters on the other hand, have a decade long fan base, it's about the music
not the stars.

I attended electronic daisy carnival in Vegas a few weeks ago, awesome party. The 'scene' knows that it's about the music and not the new mainstream ultra superstar dj's,

There is so much up and coming talent

Video of the latest EDC (created 140 mil revenue to LV last year, 240,000 people, this year was 300k, so I'm interested to see the numbers.)

Ironically I was first introduced to the libertarian message at a rave called Noctural Wonderland, at the polo fields where cochilla is held today. They had rented out one
of the booths.

A little bit more unbiased:

Electronic dance music has been around for a while now and everytime it's proclaimed that it will die, it comes back that much stronger.

I like all sorts of music - no hate for dance music. I like Trance.

Nice, I wanted to go to EDC!!

If EDM is in a bubble, it's just in the birth stages. Certainly not anywhere near the peak.

Electronic Awakening

http://www.electronicawakening.com/

The film features dozens of experts, visionaries, and published authors who explore the premise that Electronic Music is spiritual technology that allows access to higher states of consciousness. Filmed over a period of 5 years at events such as Burning Man, Earthdance, LoveFest, Moontribe, Wicked, Shambhala and the Boom Festival in Portugal.

Electronic Awakening reviews rave's evolution from large-scale commercial events to smaller gatherings in remote locations. The film offers insight into the inner workings of the brain and its metaphysical connection to the repetitive beats that allow for that sense of oneness, unity and freedom that millions feel on the dance floor.

Checkout Psytrance. It's trance with a broken beat, so it has a bit more dimension to it rather than the constant "untz untz untz"

Nothing wrong with steady beat, though, it has it's place but I prefer when it's mixed in rather than a 4 hour set of steady beat.

Lower life forms will understand this stuff, some day

Note: This song cannot be truly experienced without an extremely high quality audio system with a lot of bass and dozens or hundreds of other individuals, however, if you can use your imagination, you MIGHT get it ;)

Why don't we hear anything about this in the MSM? This was a huge event!

Such event make me look forward to a brighter future. I see thousands of free people having fun and not a hint of controlling corporate sponsors.

It's all good.
