I have Sirius Radio, and also have a habit of calling into the talk radio shows (Petes Big Mouth in the afternoon usually) but this morning since the debate was on Fox last night I decided to listen to the Fox Talk channel. It was Killmead and friends or something. (I'm not a regular listener)
I decided to call into the show to say that last night Ron Paul changed my mind and I would vote for him in the primaries, which is true... it's just that he changed my mind back in 2007! While I was in queue, someone else called in and talked for a while and then RAILED against Ron's comment that Iran should be able to get Nuclear missles. Then of course I went on the air immediately after that.. :-( I did my best to counter their points, with my main argument being "how would WE feel if someone like Russia or China tried to prevent *us* from getting nuclear technology", but it was a downhill battle, because they basically said that the leadership in Iran is crazy and if they get nukes then the whole world is going to go to hell. I was just about to make the point that the definition of "crazy" and "terrorist" is up to whomever happens to be reporting the news, and that *we* were the ones supporting the "freedom fighters" like Osama Bin Laden back when they were more in alignment with what we wanted, so in some way we are responsible for alot of the issues over there, but of course they cut me off before I could get into it.

I think we have a big problem with that "Iran Nukes" comment - non-interventionalism is going to be taken out of context, probably more so then with the whole "he wants to legalize heroine" comment. I know Ron got an ovation after his comments on Iran, so it's possible that people watching or at the debate didn't take it badly, but I'm afraid Ron just gave the MSM some ammunition... :-(

Wonder how many nukes fell into "unauthorized" hands when the soviet union collapsed? I suspect there are some crazies with nukes stored away, just waiting for the highest bidder or the most opportune time. Furthermore, the crazies in Pakistan already have nukes. Iran getting nukes is a moot point.

Any objective person how watched that debate understands Ron is correct. While the establishment talks about cutting spending, they are advocating spending trillions. They have backed themselves into a corner; objective people see that. Its those afflicted with the "us versus them" (whether it be rep v dem or US v Iran) psychology that are blathering about this. Unfortunately, the basis of party politics is "us v them."

The MSM gets its talking points from the establishment in a symbiotic relationship. If the MSM doesn't play ball, they don't get the "inside" news.

I think RP did a good job last night, even on the Iran discussion. He stuck to his principles and defended them logically. RP is changing the way people think about these issues.

Didn't watch the debate. What exactly did Paul say? That Iran having nuclear weapons is hunky-dory with him?

Depressing considering so many (*coughCollinscough*) insisted to us that Ron Paul's campaign was going to be about winning this time. This sounds it was a not-well-crafted 'education campaign' answer.

For one who didn't watch the debate, you seem to be willing to jump to conclusions.. I think his answer was very much in line with how he always handles foreign policy questions.

I believe he started off by saying that there wasn't really any evidence that Iran intends to build weapons or cause harm, but also then noted that it was necessary for them to be "respected" in the global scale. They are surrounded by nuclear powers, and it makes sense for them to be one if they don't want to be the underdog.

This is not a word for word - but basically how I read his response to the Iran situation

I find the whole "The iranian gov't is crazy" argument kind of amusing. The Obama admistration is the pargon of sanity I guess. Kind of funny to me.
