Iowa PPP Poll 12/18: Paul 23%, Romney 20%, Gingrich 14%

Opening line to Washington Times story:

The Democratic leaning Public Policy Polling Company released new data on Sunday night showing numbers in Iowa dropping for former Speaker of the House and Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich.

The media’s hostility towards this campaign is only going to get more Soviet and over the top. Strap on your seat belts.

his dip is Dr. Ron Paul's rise! lets now spell it out!! if this keeps up, victory!!!
page one was around midnight and this is page twenty three going on 24!!!!

Democratic leaning PPP? Lol give me a break
What proof do they have of this? loaded questions?? PPP should sue them for slander.

I, for one, would have preferred low numbers in the polls and Paul surprising everyone with a big win on caucus day. Reason is that I am scared that the attacks on him will be torrential now.

He's had nothing but attacks so far, so it will be nothing new.

^^^^ You know what's fascinating in the RCP Iowa graph?? Bachmann seems to get a steep negative bump in August right after her Straw Poll win, while Paul got a positive bump.

It's not really fascinating at all, her line and Perry's line are complete mirror images and Perry got in right when she won and took away her support.

The best part I love is that we are ahead by three points! Now just need to worry about Gingrich's supporters going to Romney!

^^ I wish people wouldn't do that. This seems to be a legit donation from Chuck Norris:

the great plains is about to wake up, and then california.

most of our people on the east coast are already awake

and may have heard about these neat new poll numbers.

Some food for thought: PPP had crosstabs which included those that watched the debate: Romney (+9), Gingrich (+8), and Bachmann (+3) improved among those who watched; Paul (-11), Santorum (-7), and Perry (-1) lost support among debate viewers.

That has me worried....

^^^ This

Hmmm...so us concern trolls weren't trolls.

Same here. I just hope this poll already picked off the debate losses and we don't get more.

It may be the beginning of a trend. We need to watch closely and Ron needs to go to his Panama Canal answer by default from now on.

I was really hoping for this. I thought the debate hurt him badly, but this is really good.

Your analysis is incorrect. The poll shows voter ID based on whether or not they watched the debate. The fact that Paul was down 11% does not mean that he "lost" those people. If you read further into the cross tabs, you'll find that the type of person that watched the debate didn't fit the RP demographic. I.e, > 65, neocon types. In short, that cross tab was biased towards Fox News viewers because -cough- it WAS ON FOX NEWS.
