Germans are, for all intents and purposes, disarmed.
While I certainly appreciate Massie's sentiment here, how exactly do you "not comply" with something like this?
The people "worked within the system" and said, no, we do not want this.
The government said "go fuck yourselves, you're getting 500 invaders whether you like it or not".
So how do you "not comply"?
My posting of Massie's tweet wasn't intended as an extolment of or exhortation to "non-complaince" (though I approve and endorse doing both of those things).
It was actually the first sentence in Massie's tweet (
"Ultimately, government is whatever the people in power can get away with and whatever the people they govern will tolerate.") that I had in mind when I posted it. The other tweet about the German village was just an excellent concrete illustration of the abstract principle Massie expressed in that statement (especially given Massie's subsequent reference to "democracies" in his second sentence).
But since you ask: you can "not comply" by ... well, by not complying - at risk of whatever consequences that might entail.
That is, after all, what "non-compliance" literally means.
You can't fight back, you're disarmed.
You can "not comply" by arming yourself anyway (and then fighting back, if it comes to it) - at risk of whatever consequences that might entail.
You can't move, where you gonna go, this is happening all across the west.
If it is not not as bad in some places as it is in others, then you can "not comply" by moving to one of those places.
You can't shun or reject or disengage with the invaders, you'll be arrested for hate crimes.
You can "not comply" by shunning, rejecting, or disengaging anyway - at risk of whatever consequences that might entail.
You can't petition the government for redress of grievances, they are the ones exterminating you.
That is correct - and it is not possible to "not comply" by asking the government for permission.
You can't rally your town and neighbors into supporting you to do...whatever, because that is illegal as well and you'll be arrested.
You can "not comply" by rallying your town and neighbors into supporting you anyway - at risk of whatever consequences that might entail.
So, honest question, how DO you "not comply", specifically, with something like this?
See above. Massie was not trafficking in
"sentiment". He was just stating a simple, inescapable fact.
He said only that non-compliance is "key". He did not say that it is easy, or without risk - or even that it would work, for that matter. Non-compliance is necessary, but it still might not be sufficient. IOW: Even if you do "not comply", then you still might lose - but if you don't "not comply", then you will certainly lose.
Either things will (eventually) get to the point that enough people are willing and able to "not comply" (as described above, or by other means) - or they won't. You and I and probably most (all ?) of everyone else around here are impatient outliers. Most other people outside our "merry band of refuseniks" have higher "bars" (or more distant "red lines") for what is intolerable than we do. While we watch the waterline rise, we can only hope that there will be enough people whose bars are low enough to trigger a spillover before we all drown. (In contrast to Americans today, the "bars" of the American colonists were remarkably low - and I'm not even talking about armed revolution. Tea, anyone? Or maybe some tar, with a side of feathers ...

Fortunately - and unlike the Germans - Americans are heavily armed. That factor alone may account for why America is not yet quite as far gone as other places (such as Germany). In any case, I'm sure it's something that gives TPTB severe indigestion, which is why they're so keen on things like gun control. An armed populace makes the prospect of pushing back against any significant degree of non-compliance much more problematic for them than it otherwise would be.

recent rumors of busybody/busywork Feds being menaced in North Carolina ...
