Introduce yourself! Who, What, Where, Why!

Hey all. I was introduced to Ron Paul and Libertarianism about a year ago by a dear friend and many of the concepts and Dr. Paul's ideals/philosophies made immediate sense to me. I've been slowly sipping the kool-aid and coming around to Libertarianism on the whole. Maybe one day I'll call myself a reformed Liberal :cool: I'm working on shaking up some commonly held stereotypes in my head and trying to avoid pigeon holes and go with what makes sense.

I'm a social worker for the State I live in (Maine) and working for state gov't is a blessing and a curse all at the same time.

My friend talks about the forums all the time and so I figured I'd mosey on over here and learn more about Libertarianism and Constitutionalism and see if there are any places I can direct my energy to further the cause.

Hello everyone,

I'm fairly new here, but been following Ron Paul for almost 2 years now. Amazingly, I only just found out about these forums by watching the "For Liberty" DVD. Up until then, I've resorted posting on company email lists where talking politics seemed like a one way street for liberals. Its nice to know there's a community of people out there cultivating the message and fleshing which policies and politicians are really liberty minded.

Since discovering RP, I've read a couple of his books (Revolution, A foreign policy of freedom) and taken an interest in economics... something I found SO boring in the past, but so fascinating in light of this new perspective.

My intuition would always nag at me every election cycle when we are forced to choose between the lesser of two evils. Ron Paul has answered that feeling with a perspective and discourse that makes sense. I'm now constantly educating myself and am happy to talk about anything and everything from this point of view.

Actually, I live in Georgetown, DC. My wife is in the Foreign Service and I work in academia.

Now, before you jump to conclusions, thinking I have just described your worst enemy or worst nightmare, know this: I have 8 generations worth of Kentucky roots and am an enthusiastic Ron and Rand Paul supporter. I think Rand is destined for greatness. I am sleuthfully and occasionally overtly trying to intersperse some paleocon sense into the cliché of the typical leftist academia.
