I'm in Australia for 2 months and let me tell you my observations so far!

The republic has been reorganized into the first collected Empire, for a safe and secure society.

Watch your mouth. I campaigned for Pauline Hanson. Calling her a racist is like calling Ron Paul a racist. Her views are very libertarian and she was shut down just like Ron Paul is. It's surprising to find a Ron Paul supporter not able to see through the media's spin of Pauline Hanson.

Ah - well, you are right. I have gotten my opinion about her from the msm, hadn't thought about re-checking it. My preconceived notions have remained, from before I woke up to RP, libertarianism etc. Didn't she want to print money out of thin air though? I remember that being advocated, and she was laughed off relentlessy, or was that msm build up aswell? There is a difference though, pretty sure she said the words to some effect, Ron Pauls were in a newsletter 20 yrs ago, not written by him.

Pauline Hanson: Her maiden address to Parliament.
"PAULINE HANSON: I believe we are in danger of being swamped by Asians. Between 1984 and 1995, 40 per cent of all migrants into this country were of Asian origin. They have their own culture and religion, form ghettos and do not assimilate."

Has some racist connotations and easily misconstrued into racist commentary.. Ah well

I still stand by, she runs for the money [these days] and is not actually serious about it. I didn't see too much campaigning or effort in her seat. <-- I live 3 suburbs away from her seat.............

Wow. I have been living in Sydney for the past year, but I'm from New Zealand. As far as I can tell Aussie has been buddying up to America for a long time because of John Howard (the last PM). But I don't know what you mean by cameras? Security cameras maybe but you sound rather paranoid...an American trait it seems. Australia is thoroughly regulated and you have to jump through hoops to get anything done (it takes 8 business days, if you're lucky, to get an ATM card from a Bank where as in New Zealand you can get one within half an hour if you have all your proof of Identity with you. Just as one example!)

I don't really know why I made this post other than to say that people outside of America do exist and we're watching! :O Let's just hope the apathy of the American People doesn't lead to her ruin in the near-future :/ The reason I like Ron Paul is that he gives America the chance to become more than the running joke that it is today.

Australia is beautiful natural country and there are plenty of caves in Coober Pedy to hide out in. Cant believe people sold out thier guns there.

Who uses guns for revolution anymore?

People use machetes and baseballs bats for High shcool massacres here.

Are you missing the irony that these are the same accusation leveled against Ron Paul?

The police state is here.
There are cameras everywhere.

I'm in Sydney, and they've got cameras on buses and even in bathrooms.

Nobody here seems to care. It's even more apathetic than the U.S. from what I have seen and the people I've talked to so far. There's not much of a libertarian movement. I re-started the Ron Paul meetup here, we'll see how that goes.

It appears to be a very obedient society. Surprising since many are descended from convicts.

They force people to vote here and if you don't you have to pay the government $50. Otherwise, you go to jail!!!

Guns are illegal and it's not even an issue among people here.

And the mainstream newspapers here are even more pro-government than our american ones. In fact they capitalize the word "government"!! Just about every story is about a problem that the almighty Government has to fix. Papers are also read more widely here as the internet is several years behind the U.S. on bandwidth.

Otherwise, it's a nice city with some great weather and nice people and a fun place to be for a bit.

Let the rEVOLution continue!

Thanks for the update - I really enjoy hearing your personal stories guys...thanks

No its not lost on me.. The same accusations sure... obviously. So what, - you are comparing Pauline Hanson - to Ron Paul? Lmfao.

= '0' aka no policy on anything to do with the economy.

The accusations leveled at Ron Paul = false accusations. I see the attempted comparison, but its a long one.

I have recently woken up to things and had my thoughts crystallized. It is hard to tell what either major party really stands for. All they argue about is topical things and not fundamental ways of government. It seems we are very socialized. I have benefited from this, as have we all, but I am inspired by the ideas of TRUE free markets and absence of a lot of government regulations, plus the problems that go with that. I can not recall (in my limited knowledge) a politician who has run on anything like the message that Ron Paul preaches, which your founders based your country on. Nothing about true liberty. We have idea card on our doorsteps. No one is clued in about the real reasons of terrorism. I do give a lot of credit to two news stations here (we have 5 main t.v. channels) - SBS (more world news) but most of all, our ABC which is a government channel which has no real influence from the government except funding. They are basically anti-government, or probably better to say out for government accountability. They do lean left. And political correctness is strong in it. But I am really proud that it exists and it is very educational and compassionate too.
I also don't like how we seem to be following the general trend in the West where it is one's goal to find someone that they can sue, so that they can get money out of them, or the government, so that they can have it easy. Of course there are legititmate claims but that, combined with how weak our law seems to be for REAL violent aggresive criminals, where they use the old mentally trouble, amnesia, or skitsophrenic (not to mention depressed) as there excuses to get shorter sentences or get off. And our drug stance is completely irrational, and does not treat these non-violent users as being sick or foolish, but as criminals - so that the drug lords and dealers can make a hefty income.

Guns? Well, we do well without them, but I can see why America, being SO big, and as we have seen, with the potential of a government to turn on its people, desires to have them on hand, though we hardly have any shootings like the U.S.

You are defending Pauline Hanson ??

A woman who is for socialised healthcare, socialised schooling, and who is a one-issue demagogue?

Please think before you speak.

Ron Paul is a hero. Pauline Hanson is not worthy of comparison.

Go check out your best friends policies mate.

Oh yes, those cameras are all just for "security". You mean the Australian government is here to protect me? Wow for a second there I thought I entered a police state! Thanks for clearing that up. :)

Seriously, there are cameras watching you wherever you go in this city. Don't you find that a bit creepy?

I went to an anti-war meeting tonight. It was full of socialists and communists, but I would expect that anywhere. One guy even had heard of Ron Paul but called him a "neo-fascist scumbag". I was obviously hanging with the wrong crowd!

I can't wait to check out other parts of the country. I'll look up the RP group when I'm in Melbourne later this week.

cheers.

Revolution, you have to realise that we have a different heritage than you. And we did not have a war of Independance to free ourselves from the British. It was a peaceful handing over in 1901 called Federation.

You have to point out that we do not treat our leaders in the same worshipful way that general America treats their politicans - like celebrities. Probably it was our convict days, but we don't look favourably on politicans who play the political game. WE like genuiness. Realness.

Anyway, I don't think you should hold Ron Paul supporters and Ron Paul and the message of liberty etc as our bar.

For example, I could never, especially now, hold anything less than that message of Freedom, non-racism, non-slavery, setting an example as a country etc. But I can't whip my own country with that because we have had a different history and heritage PLUS, we have never really had anyone with that kind of a message.
