The police state is here.
There are cameras everywhere.

I'm in Sydney, and they've got cameras on buses and even in bathrooms.

Nobody here seems to care. It's even more apathetic than the U.S. from what I have seen and the people I've talked to so far. There's not much of a libertarian movement. I re-started the Ron Paul meetup here, we'll see how that goes.

It appears to be a very obedient society. Surprising since many are descended from convicts.

They force people to vote here and if you don't you have to pay the government $50. Otherwise, you go to jail!!!

Guns are illegal and it's not even an issue among people here.

And the mainstream newspapers here are even more pro-government than our american ones. In fact they capitalize the word "government"!! Just about every story is about a problem that the almighty Government has to fix. Papers are also read more widely here as the internet is several years behind the U.S. on bandwidth.

Otherwise, it's a nice city with some great weather and nice people and a fun place to be for a bit.

Let the rEVOLution continue!

We're on our way to that around here. Pittsburgh just got approved to get tons of cameras.

Try getting out of Sydney - it is the HUB and the starting point for Nanny state shitness!
It's like London = erhm... Holyshit, Big Brother is watching - the cameras can actually TALK to you (ppl watching, if you litter etc.)

Outside Sydney, nothing is really like it. [yet] Very good meetup group in Melbourne, small here in Brisbane. GOOD work on getting the rp Sydney back up, had like 40 ppl and a few on the waiting list, but noone was able or willing to step up.. Prev. leader had to leave.

49% our highest tax bracket. %1 for medicare, so its like 50% to the state.. ohh deary me.

We have no history or traditions.. [That are well known and often communicated] the US have it easier - in regards to defending liberty imo... all you have to do is say, "Lets follow the consitution! you idiots!!!!" - here we have no REAL consitution.. no BILL of rights in essence. We have the Eureka stockade.. but up until a few yrs ago... we were learning about kings and queen, with europe!!

No real liberty movement at all. I and alot of other people are going to change that.

We are a few yrs behind the United States though, imo - IGNORANCE wise, or i.e stupid in general, people aren't too much.. but my opinion on this lessens each day.

Gun wise, yea 1996 - Gun by back... $500 mil. Govt did a real good job.

Our society is pretty egalitarian. Which has its good and bad aspects.. tall poppy syndrome we have.. but basically, anyone can be a mate, hence the friendlyness. Enjoy your stay :D

We will have liberty and we will have a Republic and a Constitution we can be proud of!!!! We will have it if I have to get it done myself!!! *as I cock my illegal gun*

Wow...very interesting, particularly the voting fine. I suspect the elections are rigged too.
Thanks for sharing. Quite eye-opening.

PS. Use your own bathroom...I couldn't go if I knew someone was watching me.

Not essentially true.. you have to ENROL, to get on the roll... and THEN if you don't vote - you get fined etc. :)

Its like the government saying you need to get injections or can't go to school. (for the US)

They push the myth, because votes here - ARE TAXED!!! The party's, the more votes they get - the more public funding! its like $.04 a vote, but you need to get over 4% on the ballot..

So this racist bitch, called Pauline Hanson and her One Nation Party - runs ever time, gets like $250k dollars and then loses, but keeps the cash.. for her PARTY (her).

Shit is fked up. Lol.

Thanks for the observations. You have to realize as fucked up as the US might seem to you American Paulistas, it's even worse in 99% of the world. In Germany it's unthinkable to wear guns, for example. And 99% of the people are fine with that. In fact, the US are considered to be "turbo capitalistic", "market-radical" etc. They always talk about working poor and those in trailer parks and are happy to have their nanny-wellfare-state that steals half of their income. Right now the Left party (former SED in east Germany) is gaining ground (10% nation wide) and soon they will be part of a ruling coalition in a German state of the west. It's ridiculous. "Socialism" is regarded as a better system than capitalism. It was just "done wrong" and next time it will be better, they think. There is no hope here. I just hope I can leave before this red facists build another wall. But for now I'll have fun with provocations. I love to call out people who think German "neoliberals" with their 45% state ideology are market-radical and tell them aboout my market-anarchism.

First, Germany becomes Communist?

Then, NATO becomes the Warsaw Pact?

this is why the bankers really do fear America and the Revolution. We have a history of telling people to go shove it when we don't like what they're doing. Even if we get cameras, Americans will tear them down. Thats just what the sheep would do.

Shit. I has Australia as one the places I may leave the US for.

lol leaving the USA is the new buzzword for adults who want to take their ball and go home. Problem is, there's no home... only United Earth Empire.

I have a Chilean cousin who's living in Australia. He just went back to Sydney last Tuesday because he was on vacation. His name is Jeronimo Villaseca and we're quite close. I never mentioned life in Australia but he never told us anything about cameras and police state. Now I know what to talk to him about the next time I see him! :D

Watch your mouth. I campaigned for Pauline Hanson. Calling her a racist is like calling Ron Paul a racist. Her views are very libertarian and she was shut down just like Ron Paul is. It's surprising to find a Ron Paul supporter not able to see through the media's spin of Pauline Hanson.

God why do I think we are in for some really bad shit in the future?

I'm not a tinfoil guy either.....just have this small feeling, like far off distant background noise, that things are going to get messy here in the States. Its like a gut feeling that will not go away........you cant have things as they are....continue....without real problems and real fighting. And that is something I dont want my young children to see.

Since the entire British Commonwealth (with rare exception) is like that, "God save the Queen," hey.

well, remember that this country was set up to be DIFFERENT from all the rest and run by the People! That is what made us great. Now we are heading into mediocre....and I hope it is not downhill from here..
