If we could buy 1000 acres or more, who would join us?

I always thought one of those silos would be cool to bury underground for a bunker/fallout shelter/food storage etc.

yup, that is where the idea came from- if you read the history of the place.
also- if you ever enter a Raisin' Canes, read the history.
I love Raising Canes. The only thing I know about Ryan's Steakhouse was this thing that went around the internet about a decade ago..some guy's account of really having to go to the bathroom.

asking for title changes and other such technical things is a perfectly good reason to use the flag post/thread notification , title changed

oh and dibs on trash collection in this community should I join

Okay you win.

:D Check out the whole site. With construction experience that cost per unit would be much cheaper. One of these little houses on a half acre lot surrounded by hedgerows would get a good penny from someone wanting to "get away" on a weekend or week. Depending on where one as situated a hundred of these cottages (50 acres) could generate income for a local store/pantry and a restaurant. The local pantry and restaurant are supplied by local farmers. Etc. etc.

Okay, title is fixed. Thank you to the person who dun it!

Maybe we should just buy a campground?

I've seen other shipping container houses and this is by far the nicest.

I read this one costs about 40k to build..I dont know if that includes plumbing and electrical. The nice thing about container homes is you can start off with one and add on. I've heard you can pick one up for around 5-7K. You would have to be careful and make sure you didnt get one that had been used for chemicals or something like that. If you google image container homes you can see smaller and larger ones.

Ryans started as a community grub house. like what has been mentioned in this thread.
Raising Cane was the idea of an 20 year old kid in college.
he majored in business. submitted the business proposal for the diner as his senior project and got a "C".
after graduation, he pitched the ideas to all the local banks and got a "NO!" from all of them.
He then did a 6 month hitch as a crabber in alaska to raise up about $20,000 over a season. (its very dangerous and uncomfortable work)
The guy then returned to those same banks, with the same business plan- plus the $20,000 of his own money to throw down. he eventually got a bank to loan to him.
and now- he has franchises everywhere.

It started as a project for his class at LSU.

Cool story. Jordan got cut from his HS basketball tryout.

Maybe we should just buy a campground?

Many campgrounds are already set up for amenities like water and communal plumbing. There is also usually a lake for fishing and the roads, though gravel, would already be established. Many already have maintenance buildings on site and are sold with existing equipment. I checked out one not to long ago in western N.C. I think it was 140 acres. 200 campsites ( with water spigot). Maintenance shed. Various 4 wheelers, Bobcat, Tractor etc. One full size home (Owners ) 3 acre fish pond. Was going for about 320k.
So to answer your question campgrounds already have much of the infrastructure included.

If only it wasn't in NY State... (gun and other laws)

Perhaps 3-10 acres plots according to needs and what could be afforded. Contracts could be made with those that can afford to buy more (chip in more) and make contract for those that want a piece, etc... A new Town (Liberty Forest) ?

Not enough space for nude frolicking ;)
