If war started between Turkey and Israel, which side should US take?

A US Navy veteran who was on board the USS Liberty, which Israel attacked during the Six Day War, is now missing after taking part in the conflict-ridden flotilla, US news agencies reported Tuesday.


Sixty-three year-old Joe Miduras, of the Texas town of Corpus Christi, has not yet made contact with his wife, Jean. She has so far remained unconcerned, however, saying she didn't think he had been hurt.


Miduras was a soldier on board the USS Liberty, which came under fire by Israeli warplanes and torpedoes on the fourth day of the 1967 war. As a result, 34 crew members were killed.

U.S. had emergency plan for attacking Israel in 1967

Turkey is a democratic republic. So you would in effect be siding AGAINST democracy either way. Oh, also Turkey officially has some of our nuclear weapons, while israel only has the undisclosed nuclear weapons we gave them.

But it's more like a racist "democracy" with different rights for people of different races.
More importantly a massive liability on US economy and tax payers. I would not side with such a dumb experiment in violent racism.

Israel is NOT a Democracy it's 110% Apartheid of the new millennium. It's the 1960's violation of civil rights treating all non jews as second class citizens in a cornucopia of data points.

The Israeli system of control includes separate roads, inequities in infrastructure, legal rights, and access to land and resources and land ownership/property loans.

This all besides the fact they control the embargo and sales of everything into Palestinian locations.

That is a troubling question.

I'm no fan of holy land apartheid because of damage its war fetishes and lobbies have done to US economy/job markets but now would be wrong time to start a new war front. Even if Tureky is a NATO ally, can't we find a loophole to just provide them moral support if such a war started.

Turkey is a member of NATO. It seems that the US would HAVE to support them, whether they wanted to or not. At least as long as the US is in NATO or Turkey wasn't expelled for retaliation against Israel, which brings me to my next point...

More likely, however, I could see the US withdrawing from NATO to support Israel. Not that I mind US withdrawal from NATO, but not for the wrong reasons. Withdrawing from NATO to support the Israeli government's stupidity is most certainly for the wrong reasons.

Or, maybe the US could push for Turkey's expulsion from NATO so the US could keep its entangling alliances AND continue with its unconditional support of Israel (kinda like having one's cake and eating it too, I guess,) but I'm not sure many NATO countries would go along with that...
