Just a reminder, NATO is a defensive alliance. If Turkey attacks Israel, we have no obligation to help them. Secondly, most of their aircraft is from America and Israel, so we have satellites that could just shut down their software if they ever launched an attack on Israel.

Israel would never invade Turkey, so that isn't an issue. But if it got to the brink, and Israel's existence was at stake(which I doubt would happen), we should divert some troops from Iraq to help. Though, with the steps mentioned above(shutting down their software), the Turks' offensive capabilities would be reduced significantly.

They have already attacked a Turkish boat in international waters, that would be an act of war under IL.

Not likely but won't be too surprised if NATO/Obama have secretly already ordered a refresh of old plans to protect common interests.

U.S. had emergency plan for attacking Israel in 1967

By Amir Oren, Haaretz Correspondent

For some time, the United States had had an emergency plan to attack Israel, a plan updated just prior to the 1967 war, aimed at preventing Israel from expanding westward, into Sinai, or eastward, into the West Bank.

If it means cheaper oil and more jobs, US could go back to 67 paradigm in due time.

They didn't attack a turkish boat, they attacked a neutral merchant vessel with several internationals, it wasn't a Turkish Government Boat.

So, Daftek, you think we should commit Turkish troops to an invasion of Israel? IS that the rational non-trollish position?

Better yet, why don't you join one of those flotillas? I certainly wouldn't miss you.

i don't think it matters which side we think the US should take because we know they would side with Israel.

Although the ideal response would be neither side, I chose Turkey. Why? To even the score for all the smuggled nuclear material that Israel has stolen (or been "given") by the US. ;)

But it's more like a racist "democracy" with different rights for people of different races.
More importantly a massive liability on US economy and tax payers. I would not side with such a dumb experiment in violent racism.

Racist democracy? Are you talking about the Turks and their repeated genocides? From the Armenians and Greeks to the Kurds today?

Yeah, you're right, fuck non-interventionism.

It's no act of war, Egypt AND Israel are already AT WAR with Gaza. Hence the blockade... they have the right to stop any ship that attempts to break the blockade. It's that simple.

The Turks are scum from what I hear. Not that I know any, but all the Armenians and Greeks I know have a passionate dislike for him. If you mention the word Turk with my Greek friend his head will explode and he will start cussing them out.

What do Palestinians and Arabs say about Jews, have you heard anything and agree with that also?

Talk about collectivism and group think.

Turks are God's chosen race from what I heard.

I know middle easterners who support Israel, heck I am part Christian Lebanese and support them. What you have to realize is, the Middle East is not a collective, there are white caucasians, beduins, persians, arabs, christians, jews, zorastians, shias, and sunnis.

Israel never had a genocidal policy like the Turks did against the Greeks or Armenians nor in any Israeli Constitution or manifesto is their a call for the elimination of a nation state and all the people with it like Hamas and Fatah call for.

Which one? I'd like to know more about it. Thanks. :)

I ass/u/med we had treaties to defend Israel, I suppose I was wrong:p, I still don't think we should get involved even though you got a point that IF we do, it may have to be with Turkey.
