I Received a Response From Debbie Hopper on Money Bomb

The Patriot Act is a prime example of the benefits of a free market economy, just like the Internal Revenue Service.

Actually, those are not free market at all. They are government mandates; they are force.

But, I do see why you would want to see our moneybombs fail, Jim.

"I'm working the facebook angle for Bachmann, swaying Paul and Palin supporters into her camp. We'll see the principle of leadership in action taking place in many online grassroots forum initiatives. "

just going to say it. mr. lyman is acting like a total douche by promoting his lame money bomb that the vast majority of people don't want (based on that poll). he's acting like a money bomb dictator using that email list. he is purposely diverting money bomb efforts out of ego and spite.

Actually, this is a good example of the free market rejecting a centrally planned money bomb, lol.

Maybe a minibomb where we all donate $7.19

Maybe that would get the campaigns attention but I dunno it may be too cryptic.

It really is a shame Trevor would prefer to compete against the grassroots rather than work with others to really push our momentum.

moneybombs are the least of our problem, We are battling a gop that will do anything in its power to make sure the best candidate(Ron Paul) doesn't win the gop nomination.

I don't agree. The whole point of the moneybombs is to build momentum that leads to all kinds of people donating way more than they ever would have before and some even donating that had never planned to at all. In the past, some people donated who hardly knew Dr. Paul, but got caught up in the excitement. If we cannot build that momentum, then there really is no purpose for even doing moneybombs any longer.

And for the record, it's fairly well known amongst the people who were around during the last campaign, that just throwing in an intermediate moneybomb can have devastating effects on the moneybomb close to it. We saw that last time when the unilateral decision was made to toss in another MB right before what was building to be a huge Tea Party moneybomb. When that additional MB was tossed in, the excitement that had been building for the Tea Party moneybomb went completely flat. Sure, we still raised a great deal of money, but man, imagine what we could have done. It was a very costly incident.

I think you've either quoted the wrong person or you've misunderstood me; I HAVE said that I don't like moneybombs at short intervals.

Well, ensuring that campaign's income is maximized also counts to an extent, doesn't it? It's not a totally pointless issue at all.

Well, it seems to me that what we can do to help that is to one, get his campaign the money they need and two, not do anything as the grassroots to drive the GOP away.

Lets promote both, and donate to both. I'm not rich, but I'll donate 25 to 50 bucks for each moneybomb. Ron needs all the money he can get this time and soon.

Trevor has done a lot for this movement, I consider him the "Elvis" of moneybombs, so if he wants a July 4th moneybomb, I'm not gonna question his expertise on the matter as I have zero expertise on the matter.

Every dollar helps and if one raises a million and the other one raises only $500,000 due to it being so soon after the other one then that's still 1.5 million toward the cause. That's my unqualified opinion anyway.

BTW, not a criticism, I thank ,respect and love all those fighting for Dr. Paul.

... for those who believe having two money bombs within 14 days of each other is a huge mistake, my suggestion would be to contact the campaign and tell them your concerns. ...

email debbie hopper (debh at ronpaul2012.com). ...

hi debbie,

over the last week or so, i have been reading a bit about the different factions trying to create and promote fundraisers for the rp12 campaign.

I am becoming a bit concerned about the schism because it seems to me that the main stream media (msm) likes to take advantage of every opportunity to spin news for ron paul's efforts in a bad light and setting up two money bombs two weeks apart is guaranteeing that one will have dissappointing results.

Should the rp12 campaign issue any emails, press releases, statements, etc. Supporting one or both and choose one that generates disappointing results, i can almost guarantee that it will "earn" negative media. That would be hugely counterproductive in shoring up arguments that ron "is electable" among the likely gop voters that i interact with and am attempting to educate and influence. It would be strongly counterproductive to the ultimate goal of winning votes (even if it does bring in a few extra dollars).

Please don't lose sight of the big picture.

Please don't clog up the campaign with requests to try and resolve grassroots squabbles. Trying to involve the campaign and getting them to take a stand against the July 4 money bomb is an amateur move. You're asking them to turn down earlier donations. I'm already halfway maxed out and won't be around on July 4, but hey thats just me.

Leave the campaign alone. Especially one day before a major debate for Ron. Let the campaign work on campaign stuff.

It's amazing the elf-importance some people think we have here. I have been involved in the movement since mid 2007, I run 2 meetups and am incredibly active in many ways with many people, and yet at our last meetup I met the SECOND person ever that knew about Ron Paul Forums. We make up a TINY part of the grassroots. We really need to get over ourselves. We're not even the most "hardcore" activists because those people don't have the time to sit at a computer making forum posts.

Trevor can be hard to connect with. I thought we were good friends, but then he doesn't even reply to my emails anymore. But he's very good at what he does, and he has a mailing list of thousands that so far it seems we can trust him with. So because of this, and because the campaign needs the money ASAP, I say we promote both. I know one big sum on a single day is nice and gets some media mention, but do you have any idea how much better it is to just have money in the bank NOW!? They need to spend now, which means they need our money now. Just max out right away, send them everything you have, NOW. If we win Iowa, the money will damn well pour in like a damn has just burst. Just donate today, now, do it.

The campaign needs money BEFORE the end of the filing deadline in Jul 1.

100% in agreement. We tried to do daily 1-up donation threads earlier in the week to push donations to the Iowa projects (which are official campaign donations). The quarter ends with this month. If the campaign should be promoting anything, it is a major push the last week of June.

If anybody is thinking, "Oh, well, I will probably donate the 4th because it'll be good for Ron." Then I strongly suggest you use the funds you are saving and pump them into the campaign before the quarter is over.

No amount of press for a moneybomb will be as good as the amount of press for a STRONG finish for the quarter!!!
