Huckabee getting large Ron Paul voting support???

Congrats guys on letting McCain win! The election is officially over thanks to a 1% win in Virginia that could have easily been prevented by a small fraction of Paul supporters voting for Huckabee like many were saying to do. WAY TO GO!

yes he does.

No he doesn't, Huckabee needed to win(before Saturday) only 64% of the remaining delegates to force a brokered convention...Huckabee would have had to win 81% of the remaining delegates to win the nomination, so a brokered convention would be VERY likely if Huckabee can win from here on out...so if he stays in, come May, Huckabee may get my vote simply for the fact he can get us a brokered convention...that said, I absolutely despise Huckabee, but he is our best chance for a brokered convention.

BUT, a lot of states give delegates to the second place winner, and aren't winner take all.

so we HAVE to win EVERY winner take all state. which VA is.

A lot of the problems in the Grassroots is that people don't know how to apply critical thinking.

Virginia = "Winner Take All"

Critical thinking leads to the conclusion that voting for Huck in Virgina, thus defeating McCain, produces more of what we want than Ron getting 4%.

This information should have been promoted, explained clearly, and widely dispersed here.

We all need to start to use common sense more. What REALLY helps, what really DOESN'T help.

Enough wasting time, efforts and money on lesser productive ideas.

Rules are rules, but there are exceptions, and they can also be modified as needs require.

well, thats the point. we were trying to promote it and explain it clearly. the mods prevented that.

i'd like to hear an explanation.

Hey numbnuts, you think ALL Ron Paul voters in VA come to this forum? Use your head. I would wager that most of the Ron Paul voters are everyday americans who are not into the latest or "up to date" on the latest brokered convention tactics.

Well, to be fair, Romney is getting 3% in Virgina, those votes could have swung the election to Huck too.

I suppose that the mods could utilize critical thinking from here on out also.

Perhaps think before they move threads, or ask in the thread why they should or shouldn't first, before acting, in order to understand the implications.

No one has a monopoly on the best way to do things, moderation should include fairness and critical thinking as well.

Basic logic? Ok.

You are assuming a brokered convention would gain us something. That is a LARGE leap of faith. We may have more delegates than some may realize but we have nowhere near enough to win the nomination.

Unless of course, the other candidates' delegates were to swing our way. McCain, Romney, Ghoul, and Fred have all be fairly hostile towards Paul. I doubt we have submarined enough of those delegates to turn the tide, let alone gain a majority.

Huckabee is in this for one person: Huckabee. He is aiming for the presidency or the vice presidency. If there is a brokered convention, McCain and Huck will be the dealers. For all intents and purposes, Paul will be ignored unless we have a significant number of delegates which at this time appears exceedingly remote.

I'd rather vote my conscience, than vote for an improbable scenario. I'm not about to throw away my efforts and my chance to vote for Paul for this.

You are welcome you neocon huckabee idiot

RP supporters should never be encourage to vote for Huck. What's the point? All the other candidates are assholes. NEVER vote against your principles. That would be stupid.

Originally winning the nomination was the hope of the brokered convention, but to be honest it seems like very few people are willing to put the effort in needed to secure the delegates necessary. Now we can only hope to be useful by having enough delegates to be needed to nominate someone else (or to pass a rule/platform change). We could use that for leverage to get a rule/platform change for our/grassroots benefit. The chance of that is worth far more than a % or two in VA.

Exactly right! All these people are weakening RP message by giving the votes to huckabee. RP would be the last person mcCain and Huckabees delegates would vote for in a brokered convention. It would be a fight between huck McCain and romney and if they couldn't agree there they would pull in someone that is polling well against the democrats that isn't even running.
