Huckabee getting large Ron Paul voting support???

Wow, Mark. Looks like you need to take some time off.

What about what I just wrote? Why hasn't the thread been cleaned up where I've been attacked constantly.

It's in the Christian outreach forum for goodness sakes. And no one's done a thing about it after I've reported it three times already.

There were several people, myself included that had started threads talking about RP supporters backing Huckabee, for the simple fact of a brokered convention. The mods kept moving them to "Hot Topics" where nobody would view them...if just half of the RP supporters in VA would have voted for Huckabee, Huckabee would be winning right now which is what we need.

THIS REALLLLLLLLLLY PISSED ME OFF. You begin to question what exactly are these guys trying to accomplish. If the strategy was a brokered convention, than of course we want to do anything possible to make that happen, including voting for huckaberry. I kept on saying it was a good idea, and started a thread, and then it was moved, and or flamed. You gotta wonder why, and who is flaming the idea, and where exactly their allegiance lies. I understand the absolutist ideology, but come on, we need to be politically savvy too. I started a thread for people to give me some good analysis, and I just got replies like NO, and on starred the idea. Willing to bet there are plenty of moles here with many replies in the grassroots, and they just attack any good ideas to demoralize them as quick as possible.

The campaign made it 100% clear that they don't want this strategy. Anyone still pushing the idea after the campaign's statement came out is no different from a Huck's Army plant as far as I'm concerned.

we have to keep it brokered, we dont want McCain to win another caucus or primary ideally but does it matter because Huck might support McCain anyway, no one knows.

But there's no point in having a brokered convention unless we get enough delegates at said convention to make a difference.

I took the night off from modding, Mark. I am tired. There are 6 or 7 other mods or admins.

Get off my back.

Those threads were moved to the correct forum: National Convention.

Did you miss the request from HQ that everyone vote FOR RON and NOT for Huck?

Honestly, if we all voted Huck from here on out I doubt it'll come back to bite us in the ass (Huck will never get 1191 delegates). In VA, DC and MD it wouldn't have helped anyway. Keep in mind though, our strategy is to get a brokered convention, and that won't happen if McCain keeps taking 100% of the delegates in every caucus/primary.

Guys,

That is one of the reasons why there is an effort to create hit ads on McCain. He's easy to take out. We just need to do it. :)

Look in the National Convention forum, Spirit. That is the correct forum for discussions of that nature.

I haven't looked in over there for a while, but I imagine you'll be able to spot pretty easily which members refused to stop begging RP supporters to vote for Huck - even AFTER HQ stated in no uncertain terms that such was NOT WHAT RON WANTED US TO DO.

Paulites, this campaign has indeed been run on an absolutist premise. The "official" campaign is not truly interested in seeing RP win this nomination. All it wants is to see how many delegates it can garner through an only vote for RP strategy. It would appear that the reasoning behind this defeatist attitude is that what they really want to know is what kind of support the movement will have in the future. Politics is not an exact science but is more akin to a chess game where some pieces must be sacrificed to gain victory. By not making every effort to achieve a brokered convention the "official" campaign has decided that it RP is not willing to make the sacrifices necessary. While it is true that RP will not be a player in any brokered convention without many more delegates than he now possesses it is also true that he alone can not possibly gather enough delegates on his own to force a brokered convention. Logic would dictate that we assist Huckabee in winner take all situations while going for broke in shared delegate scenarios. These tactics will best meet our needs. By the way I am a dedicated but thinking RP supporter. I am also a delegate to my county convention here in Washington State.

+1,000,000,000

In a place like Virginia, a vote for Huckabee is a vote for Paul in the end.

I've got your logic right here. The campaign has nixed this idea, and I agree with them - it's stupid to work for a brokered campaign if the outcome is going to be a McCain / Huckabee ticket.

Duh.

Paul needs delegates. Screw the rest.

angelatc, you are certainly very politically astute ... NOT! Did you read my entire post or at least have someone that can read tell you what it says? If you are able to comprehend the written word then you know what absolutist means. If not please go to dictionary.com and look it up. You and those of you that think in limited terms are exactly why RP is losing. I'll just bet you are not a chess player are you? Politics is by definition a strategic endeavor. If you don't wish to win by all means continue on the path you have chosen.
