Hubby just said...

People on here are starting to behave like cult members. Ron is not the leader of a personality cult. If Romney is willing to make policy concessions, why in the world wouldn't Ron agree to run on a ticket with him?

When a bill has both good and bad things, Ron Paul usually votes against the bill. I guess that means Ron Paul is member of some cult.

Romney can, and I believe would offer policy compromises to get Ron on the ticket. Romney could give a lot without losing his base. Hardcore necons aren't Romney's base. Romney could offer to pull out of Afghanistan day 1, but not close every base worldwide. He could offer an audit of the fed, but not end it. He could pledge no wars not declared by congress, not no wars ever. He could repeal NDAA/ patriot act. None of this would hurt his electability.

If Romney made concessions that were acceptable, a Romney/Paul ticket would absolutely crush Obama. Just saying.

Concessions / promises made by someone with the record of zero consistency that Romney has are worth even less than Fiat money. One of the main reasons to support Paul is that he can stand on his record which is what sets him apart from every other candidate who promises things during election times and ignores them during the rest of the term. Romeny and Obama in addition to sharing policy stances share this disingenuous heritage.

Do you all remember how much people here beat up Palin for signing on with McCain? Remember what she had to say on the campaign trail about how bomb diddilicious McCain's plan for America was?

Can any of you see Paul having to do this?

VP is a virtually powerless position, and Romney won't be VP to Ron's POTUS.

Can you name one other position in America in which 30% of its holders become President?

It is a more powerful position than House member.

Just because Ron Paul has principles doesn't mean he is cut from the "take his ball and go home" cloth. He could have done that decades ago.

No, but I can see Romney caving to Ron Paul's FANTASTIC WINNING ideas.

It'd be nice if he actually did some of that, however his record doesn't earn him the right to a vote based on faith that his latest rhetoric of choice will actually match his policies when in office.

Read the constitution, the vice president doesn't have to do this. Vice President /= toady.

If it came to this, I would support Ron Paul if only in the hopes Romney chokes on a finely aged steak. My bumper sticker would still say "Ron Paul 2012". My yard signs would still say "Ron Paul 2012". Nobody would think I am voting for Romney. I wouldn't and won't. If the only way to get Ron Paul into a greater position of power is to drag along Romney, so be it.

It would be an interesting ticket regardless. What are the pro-Obama critics going to say, "You have a peace-loving VP?" Will they publicly question Romney's commitment to war/bailouts/torture/debt? No doubt, Ron Paul would have his bucket list of officially sanctioned things to address (the debt and Fed - I hope) and will continue to be able to stump on other core principles of liberty (ending the drug war, mandates, state rights, foreign wars).

For most of us, Ron Paul is a great gift but for TPTB, he is a bitter pill. They know debt/war is unsustainable and the bitter pill must be swallowed, but they will squirm and try to escape until it is swallowed.

a Romney/Paul or Paul/Romney team would be unstoppable against the Obama machine.

Just reporting in.

(He voted for Ron Paul in the primary here last time, is big into gun rights, but leans slightly neocon.)

So, you're looking for a good divorce lawyer?
:D

Endorsing Romney would be selling out 50% of our soul. This is exactly what Ron Paul speaks against when he talks about compromise.

Let's see...

We made a stink and didn't vote establishment/McCain and we witnessed the Liberty movement grow...

So now we're supposed to vote Romney and expect more growth? No.

NOBP

How many of them were 77 entering the first term? If Romney goes 2 terms, Ron is 85.

Here is the list of 47 VPs if that really interests you. This is the oldest VP to date: "Barkley was 71 years old at the time of his inauguration on January 20, 1949, the oldest Vice President to date."

That said, how are so many people here privy to what Ron Paul is doing in the next few years? Are you planning his retirement?

Quarterback Brett Favre endured 9 years of retirement speculation. I doubt Brett knew what he was doing from year to year aside from getting annoyed at all the people up in his business. How is it our business what Ron does because of his age? I'm not suggesting he become a prize-fighting boxer. It is about sitting at a desk and occasionally traveling about promoting liberty as he has for decades. Can you think of anybody who would do a better job and get the job?

I think the job would make Ron Paul more youthful and extend his life. He isn't power-obsessed like some of our current Presidents. Nor would he worry about opinion polls or keeping such-n-such special interest happy.

I still say:

Romney is malleable, which is his best and worst trait. In the hands of a master craftsman like Ron Paul, he could have potential.

I'm only interested in this arrangement if it is revealed that Willard has a heart condition and 6 months to live.. NOBP!
Aren't we just a nice bunch of people. He may have horrible policies, doesn't mean we should wish for his death.

i dont see ron and romney teaming up, they're just being civil. maybe romney will be somewhere in the administration or something but i dont want him as vp and i dont think ron would too. i can just see a RP assassination if romney is the vp. NO WAY. we need a Judge Napolitano type. someone who stands firm on the constitution and liberty. who we wont doubt would continue ron's legacy if TPTB wanna take him out.

Hubby also said Ron would take the younger voters and Romney would take the older Establishment ones. Only losers would be the socons
