Got this via email from www.fff.org which is Jacob Hornberger's group, The Future of Freedom Foundation. I have not been able to watch the video yet as I am on dialup for now. I put the link at the end of the quote from the email, hope some of y'all can take a listen.
"On November 16, I participated in a debate on ABC News’ Nightline Twittercast, which was broadcast on the Internet. The subject: “Do We Need Stricter Gun Control Laws?” My opponent was Paul Helmke, head of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, the leading gun-control group in the country. The debate took place in the context of the Ft. Hood killings, where gun control prevented the murder victims from defending themselves from the killer, who didn’t give a hoot for the gun-control law.
While some people have been comforted by President Obama’s expressed opposition to any new gun-control measure, here at FFF we are not among them. We must remain vigilant against any such measure, for some big shooting or terrorist attack could cause Obama to turn on a dime and quickly sign a gun-control bill sent to him by the Democratic-controlled Congress.
As we have long maintained here at FFF, the right to keep and bear arms is absolutely essential to a free society. Not only does it provide the means by which people can defend themselves from murderers, it also constitutes the best insurance policy against tyranny.
I hope you will watch the debate and share it with your friends, relatives, and email lists. Here is the link to the debate."
