But John Dennis, who chairs the California Republican Liberty Caucus and is a Paul supporter, said his candidate has had somewhat of a rough time getting a foot in the door of the convention.

"We talked to (State GOP chair Tom) Del Beccaro before anybody was booked for this and they went and confirmed Bachmann,'' he said. While they said she would be a draw, "they told me, "I don't know if we'll sell tickets for Ron Paul."

Dennis says his candidate's success -- coming within a few hundred votes of Bachmann in the Iowa straw poll -- has been ignored by the some party leaders. And as we reported yesterday, a recent Pew study showed that coverage of the Paul presidential drive has been studiously sidestepped by media, especially cable TV.

"I think he's upsetting the apple cart. The Republican Party in California is the biggest one in the country -- and the fun stops in Washington if Ron Paul comes to town,'' Dennis said, a factor that he said worries "anyone who's upwardly mobile in the GOP."

Del Becarro told us this week that he has been working hard to get all the GOP presidential candidates to the events.

We've contacted Del Beccaro for comment and will post his comments on the latest.

OK, so it is the Saturday during the conference that Ron is speaking.

Is there anything special happening at this convention? Is there going to be a big straw poll? Are tickets still available? What organized efforts are going to take place by RP grassroots?

We just found out he was going. I don't think there's a straw poll, but it would raise his profile in CA and that is GOOD. He was absolutely ignored last time by the party structure.

I'll see if I can get enough friends together to justify going. Do you have to be above a certain age to vote in this straw poll?

I'll plan on being there. Any pre-requisites beyond being registered Republican? Do we have to pay for admission?

Californians, I believe, donated the most to the Ron Paul campaign last quarter. He should definitely put in an effort in California to get their delegates.

This invitation letter sounds like it was tailor-made for Dr. Paul:

On behalf of the California Republican Party, I would like to invite you to join us in reshaping the political landscape at our upcoming Fall Convention, held at L.A. Live at the JW Marriott, September 16-18. It's a new day in California politics, and you can be a part of it.

We're ushering in a new era, broadening our communications strategy and reaching out to previously ignored voters in order to spread our message and inspiring a new generation of Republicans. We're leaving our comfort zones and moving forward to success.

As part of this exciting new initiative, the CRP will feature a number of workshops and events the Fall Convention tailored toward building our party for a stronger future.

I have a extra bedroom at my apartment that is about 0.8 miles away from the convention. We have a cat and its a bit messy but it has the best view of downtown la! PM me if anyone wants to stay! I also work 10 min away from LAX if anyone needs a ride. Anyways first few to PM gets free board/ride.

Welcome to the forums bkc888!

Your offer is most generous, I applaud you for that. Hopefully some from NorCal will take you up on it instead of staying home.

Likewise, anyone from Riverside County that is in need of transportation may be able to hitch a ride with me, assuming I end up being qualified to attend.
