I watched pieces of it. I thought it was rather boring and elementary, and just plain wrong on a lot of issues. Also, the more I learn, the more I get tired of the endless deification of the founding fathers. The only one who I think stands out as exceptional in those times was Jefferson.

Anyway, this movie is trying to give a history of the State, which I think is inaccurate, and they compound the error by deifying the founding fathers and trying to paint the Republic we have in a religious light.

If you want real insight into the history of the State here in the US, and a more accurate glimpse of the "Founding Fathers" and their role, I encourage everyone to read "Our Enemy, The State", by Albert Jay Nock (free online).

I watched the entire video twice. I disagreed with all of the religious undertones but everything else was pretty good, if not blatantly elementry. Many of the forefathers, afterall, were Deisists and believed in Deism.

I'm curious, what parts are just plain wrong?

I thought it was totally out of line in its depiction of anarchy. I thought it was wrong in the reasons, it assumed the "founding fathers" "gave" us the Republican form of government, and a lot of stuff about the religious origins I thought were wrong.

That's a few, but as I said I didn't watch it all. I don't think the movie was a complete piece of crap, it just isn't something I would pass on to someone, IMO.

I think it's safe to say this country wasn't established on Anarchy. Could you at least look past it's bias against utopian anarchy?

This country was founded on a Constitutional Republic type of government. What's wrong with calling it Republican? Republic - an

I agree. I'd add that many people need that blatant elementary aspect of the video, so it is not over their heads and also to follow the Keep it Simple rule. Many of us were victims of public education. ;):)

I agree that the religious emphasis was overdone. I'm not an atheist and though I respect and generally abide by Christian ethics, I'm not a Christian either. It could be off-putting to many people. It is also very basic and the topics should already be second nature. Unfortunately those that have been exposed to the basic principles are often deluded into thinking that we still live in a constitutional republic, when in fact we have democratically empowered oligarchy. They used to sort of teach this stuff in school, but from what I've seen of most people, they have been taught that everything prior to the Civil War was misery and darkness and between Saint Abe and Saint Franklin the nation was ruled by robber barons; America has only been "free" since the new deal. Gah!

All that being said I would recommend this video for many people, but not for some.

In most people's minds, unfortunately, the worst thing about it would be that it is a product of the JBS. Between their own misplaced emphasis and the colossal--and successful--smear job by the establishment in the 50s and 60s the JBS is poison to most people. It's sad because they are one of the strongest pro-liberty organizations in the country.

The video was meant to be simple so average non-Constitutional minded people can understand it. This is an introduction to the Constitution and to the Republic.

just watched it, pretty good video... that would be a great infomercial to come on at 2 in the morning...

I clicked it off when 2 sentences in they say the US is "religious based". I figure anybody that would say something like that isn't going to be right enough to make anything else they have to say worth listening to.

VERY unfortunate that you would miss out on such a great video because of those two words. I, myself, am agnostic, but the main point is that the residents of a free nation need to have some type of moral code. Obviously when you have people who think stealing is okay, you end up with taxation, government ownership, etc.

I just saw this video and it's AMAZING! Everyone living in America should see it, especially children. I used to think that the extreme left was socialism and the extreme right was fascism, but this video puts it a better way.

On the left: Oligarchy (socialism, fascism, communism, democracy)
On the right: Freedom (limited government, capitalism, a republic)

That's not exactly how it's explained, but you get the idea. Very educational.

A fine video, but, like all JBS work, has too strong a religious spin to it.

On a side note, the fact that many of the imminent individuals who helped to create a basically good government plan some 230 years ago were so misguided by their times on the subject of religion, is no argument to continue their errors into the future.

Doesn't society need a solid moral foundation?

What about the drug war? Can't those with a moral foundation in society, decide for themselves what to put in their body without the hand of the government interfering? You'd think an organization like JBS would agree with that.

Where does the JBS stand on the War on Drugs?

I really like both the JBS and the Constitution Party. However, it's their stubborn attachment to stressing a certain religion and distasteful aspects of social conservatism (like the drug war) that keeps me from being 100% on board. I really hope this is something Ron Paulians currently involved with these groups will be able to change.

Morality does not necessitate religion. Neither does religion guarantee morality.

Society would become dysfunctional without a moral standard. Would you rather have a King or a mob-rule Democracy creating and changing moral laws?
