Hate To Post A New Thread, But...

War is big business - no doubt about it.

Ron Paul is without a doubt a top 4 candidate and we are doing well. Even the MSM will have a hard time continuing to marginalize RP without destroying their own credibilty further.

Why South Carolianians voted as they did is pretty obvious when you break things down.

a) as the OP said, the military industrial complex is alive and thriving in SC - and it wants to stay that way. Ergo, the choices are anyone but Paul. The MIC is reason numero uno for separating the wheat from the chaff and in this case, Paul is the chaff.

b) Giuliani is too liberal for this state and as much as SC has a hate-on for Paul, they've got an even greater hate-on for liberals. Ergo, Giuliani will finish below Paul.

That leaves the choices, in favour of the MIC, between McCain, Huck, Romney and Thompson. (Hunter is irrelevant, poor man.)

c) Romney will place 4th. Why? Because bigotry is alive and well in SC. He's a Morman, after all.

d) Thompson isn't conceived as being Christian enough, due to his holding certain liberal views. Ergo, he will finish 3rd.

e) Between the Huckster and McC, reason numero uno is the deciding factor (see 'a' above). Ergo, McC places 1st, the Huckster 2nd.

You are perfectly correct in your assessment.

This is one of the main reasons why I can't get my b-i-l in line with Dr. Paul... He works for a defense contractor.

That's why it is a mistake for RP not to strongly state that he is in favor of a STRONG military, just a strong military here at home. People think he wants a weak military, because he isn't clear on this.

Actually, the commercials I hear on the radio in Florida have all been about a strong military. I am not sure if this is running in SC but it has been here.

Indeed, RP REALLY needs to explain this to the public better (not that he ever gets much of a chance...)

More food for thought.

Bosso is right. BUT,

This just highlights what I have been saying about Dr. Paul coming out with a "Just War" ad, stating that hunting terrorists is a job for spies and not the military. That there is still justice to be exacted for 9/11.

If the official Ron Paul campaign comes out with that ad, it sends a strong signal to the military industrial complex - that they are still very much needed by the Ron Paul Administration.

Hopefully, this will turn the tide for Dr. Paul with regard to voters such as in SC.

It may be too late for SC, but there are still many other States that we can win for Dr. Paul.

I know that only a few of you will completely understand what I mean.

Yes, but two things.
1. We will not have bases closing here, and our defense against wild Mexicans and Canadians and true terrorists will beef up, and greatly, and the money will be spent here, to beef up our own economy.

2. You can not consider your own pocketbook when the country is about to become something it was never meant to be. The Constitution is all that set us apart, and it is getting ignored. If they want their exact job in a totalitarian state then fine. But they have to be fully aware what their attitude is leading to.

Good analysis, or - 5 reasons to boycott South Carolina

what about ghouliani?

He is a war monger, how come he did not get huge support?

Prolly didn't campaign there. Hasn't been in the senate for years, trying to screw over POWs/MIAs (Washington experience), hasn't been the recipient of bribes from SC MIC contractors, isn't Lindsay Graham's pal, just doesn't love war enough, too "NYC" liberal.

I dunno. I think it's gonna miss the mark. The fear driven sheep see millions of Muslims needing killing. I don't think they'll think spies can do the job.

Personally, especially in Florida, I would focus on national security at home, with an emphasis on inspecting ALL containers in ALL ports. Beef up the Coast Guard, too.
