Report: Armed Citizen Foils Mass Shooting, Kills Indiana Mall Attacker

https://www.breitbart.com/politics/...ls-mass-shooting-kills-indiana-mall-attacker/

AWR HAWKINS 17 Jul 2022

An armed citizen reportedly foiled a mass shooting by killing an alleged attacker who opened fire Sunday around 6 p.m. in Greenwood Park Mall in Indianapolis, Indiana.

WDRB reports that three innocents were killed in the attack, then an armed citizen shot and killed the attacker.

Two other individuals were injured.

WTHR notes that witnesses heard about 20 shots ring out in the food court during the attack.

Greenwood Chief James Ison indicated that “a good Samaritan witnessed the shooting and shot and killed the shooter.”

Police indicated that the attacker was an adult male but provided no greater detail.

The AP actually included a good quote in their article about this... indiana-mall-shooting

Of course they moved on to the boogity boogity as quickly as they could.

GREENWOOD, Ind. (AP) — Three people were fatally shot and two were injured Sunday evening at an Indiana mall after a man with a rifle opened fire in a food court and an armed civilian shot and killed him, police said.

The man entered the Greenwood Park Mall with a rifle and several magazines of ammunition and began firing in the food court, Greenwood Police Department Chief Jim Ison said.

A 22-year-old from nearby Bartholomew County who was legally carrying a firearm at the mall shot and killed the gunman, Ison said at a news conference.

Four of those hit by gunfire were females and one was a male, Ison said. He didn’t immediately know the specific gender or age of those who were killed.

He said a 12-year-old girl was among the two injured, both of whom are in stable condition.

Police confiscated a suspicious backpack that was in a bathroom near the food court, Ison said.

Officers went to the mall at about 6 p.m. for reports of the shooting.

“The real hero of the day is the citizen that was lawfully carrying a firearm in that food court and was able to stop the shooter almost as soon as he began,” Ison said.

The mass shooting was just the latest to unnerve Americans in 2022. Schools, churches, grocery stores and a July Fourth parade in Highland Park, Illinois, have all become killing grounds in recent months. Still, the reality of America’s staggering murder rate can often be seen more clearly in individual deaths that rarely make the news.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police and multiple other agencies are assisting in the investigation.

“We are sickened by yet another type of incident like this in our country,” Indianapolis Assistant Chief of Police Chris Bailey said.

There was no threat to the area Sunday night, authorities said.

Greenwood is a south suburb of Indianapolis with a population of about 60,000. Mayor Mark Myers asked for “prayers to the victims and our first responders.”

“This tragedy hits at the core of our community,” Myers said in a statement.

Authorities said they would provide more details Monday.

One thing to keep in mind, at least for me, is a 380 requires regular range time to be a capable shot at anything except point blank range.

My glock 19 on the other hand, the bullet goes where I want it, every time. Even if its been 2 years since I shot it.

At least, until I lost both of them in a boating accident a couple years back.

A fair point.

My Beretta M9 (92FS) is the same for me, super accurate, plenty of firepower, a superb handgun all around, had it for over thirty years now.

The problem: fully loaded it weighs over 40 ounces.

The Spectrum weighs 15 ounces loaded with Winchester Silver Tip ammo.

The Glock 19 fully loaded weighs 31 ounces.

The Spectrum will slip into a pair of shorts pocket, a pair of sweats, a coverall pocket or in a Sneaky Pete cel phone holster, onto any other clothes.

Something has to be done to stop this vigilante type street justice that is rampant in todays society. These people have no right to be judge, jury, and executioner's.

This good-guy-with-a-gun stopped a crime - but he didn't use the gun to do it.

And he still got in trouble.

Baltimore arrests Marine vet hero who stopped crazy gunman for having concealed weapon of his own
https://notthebee.com/article/balti...nman-for-having-a-concealed-weapon-of-his-own
AnnieOakley (08 September 2022)

It's becoming harder and harder to be a good guy with a gun.

A Marine vet named Lloyd Muldrow stopped a madman with a gun in Baltimore who was threatening to kill everyone at a July 4th event. Muldrow didn't even draw his weapon, but as a self-defense instructor, managed to take the man down without it.

Unfortunately, since Baltimore is a Democrat-run city with insane gun laws, the heroic vet was arrested for carrying a gun.

From Western Journal:

"Mr. Muldrow, 57, had just arrived at a July 4 gathering of family and friends at Tequila Sunset in Baltimore when another patron, Wesley Henderson, became upset after seeing his ex-girlfriend dancing with Marshall Cullens, according to the Baltimore state's attorney charging document," the Times reported.

"Mr. Henderson allegedly shoved Mr. Cullens and then brandished a handgun, striking him in the head. He also shouted threats like ‘I'll kill everyone,' Mr. Muldrow said."

"When I got there, I saw him [Cullens] bleeding profusely from his head. It looked like he had a gunshot wound to his forehead," Muldrow told the paper.

"He was bleeding so badly that I couldn't do anything but react. I saw the guy with the pistol in his hand, and I hit the guy and knocked him down. We went to the ground, and I secured the pistol from him."

"I mean, I reacted based on my training," he added. "I spent years training Marines to defuse situations."

The 57-year-old man tackled a crazy guy with a gun who had already pistol whipped someone.

Muldrow should have gotten a medal from the city for his heroic actions. Instead, he was arrested.

However, the problem began when an officer asked where the gun was.

While the gun Henderson allegedly used to attack Cullens had disappeared — Muldrow's attorney said that in the body cam footage, "you hear police say it's a pretty common occurrence in Baltimore that, by the time they get there, the gun has disappeared" — Muldrow told the officer that his firearm, a .22 caliber Beretta M9, was holstered on his hip.

An officer then pulled back his jacket and found the firearm — which Muldrow didn't even have to draw. Under Baltimore's law, it doesn't matter.

This military veteran had a gun on him, which he didn't use, and the police went after HIM even after he stopped a potential massacre.

Here's where it gets muddy, though: Muldrow has a concealed carry permit, but that permit was issued in Virginia. Maryland has no concealed-carry reciprocity, meaning it recognizes no other state's permits. Eleven states recognize Maryland's permits, including Virginia.

However, Maryland's concealed carry laws were likely among those rendered unconstitutional by a landmark Supreme Court decision this summer, New York State Rifle v. Bruen. In that case, the court struck down a New York law that required applicants to show a special need to carry a gun outside the home by a 6-3 margin, finding it violated the Second Amendment.

Maryland is yet another show-cause state, although GOP Gov. Larry Hogan responded to the court's decision by suspending the state's "good and substantial reason" standard for issuing permits.

The law is probably unconstitutional.

And police have discretion on whether or not they bother people with unnecessary gun charges.

But the officers in this case "followed orders" and ended up putting a hero behind bars for no good reason.

"Lloyd gets up and walks out and he's walking around a free man for a while, and you hear a bunch of cops lamenting the fact that their lieutenant has said, ‘find out if that gun is legal,'" Michael Stark, Muldrow's attorney, told the Times.

"And it sucks because the police do have discretion. They don't have to make arrests in every single case."

Indeed, one of the first responders says, on the body cam footage, that "this guy probably saved somebody's life, and he got arrested."

"The [police] reaction was, ‘thank you, because we didn't have to kill nobody and we didn't have to shoot nobody,'" Muldrow told the Times. "The officers, even when they took me to the jailhouse, it was like, ‘please look out for this guy. This guy took care of us.'"

Not only could this end with a year in jail and a $1,000 fine, Muldrow would also lose his concealed-carry permit if he's convicted. That's could put his job at risk; Muldrow is a safety and training manager.

I hope this guy gets to clean out Baltimore authorities in court, even if it has to go all the way to SCOTUS.

These must be the "good cops" one sometimes hears tell of.

Man Shot by Norco Store Owner in Attempted Robbery is Denied House Arrest Request
Rasheed DaShawn Lee Belvin, 23, of Los Angeles allegedly fled the establishment, screaming, "He shot my arm off!''
By City News Service • Published August 29, 2022

A suspect who allegedly tried to rob a Norco liquor store with three others, and ended up getting shot by the store owner with a shotgun, was denied a home detention request by a judge Monday.

Rasheed DaShawn Lee Belvin, 23, of Los Angeles was wounded in the left arm last month during the alleged attempted holdup at Norco Market & Liquor at 816 Sixth St.

Belvin pleaded not guilty last week to attempted robbery, conspiracy, elder abuse, firearm assault, possession of a loaded stolen firearm, possession of an assault weapon, two counts of receiving stolen property and sentence-enhancing allegations of using a gun during a felony and victimizing a person over 65 years old.

During a bail review hearing Monday at the Riverside Hall of Justice, Belvin's attorney submitted a motion requesting that the court consider placing the defendant on home detention with a GPS ankle monitor attached in lieu remaining locked up in jail.

After hearing objections from prosecutors, Riverside County Superior Court Judge Sean Crandell denied the request and ordered that Belvin be held without bail at the Smith Correctional Facility in Banning. His bail was previously set at $500,000.

Belvin's co-defendants -- Davon Anthony Broadus, 24, of Inglewood, Justin Kyle Johnson, 22, of Inglewood, and Jamar Elijah Williams, 26, of Las Vegas -- were arraigned earlier this month on charges of attempted robbery, elder abuse, possession of a stolen firearm, as well as sentence-enhancing allegations of using a gun during a felony and victimizing a person over 65 years old.

Each of the three is being held on $500,000 bail -- Broadus at the Smith Correctional Facility in Banning, Johnson at the Robert Presley Jail in Riverside and Williams at the Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta.

All of the defendants, including Belvin, are slated to appear together for a felony settlement conference on Oct. 7.

FBI undercounts armed citizens stopping attacks

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/...i-undercounts-armed-citizens-stopping-attacks

by Paul Bedard, Washington Secrets Columnist | October 04, 2022 02:12 PM

The FBI has been vastly undercounting the times a mass shooting or active shooting event has been stopped by legally armed citizens, according to an independent report provided to Secrets.

In the new report, some undercounting has been “by an order of more than 10,” suggesting that the so-called “good guy with a gun” event is not rare and may be involved in a third or more of the attacks.

“An analysis by my organization identified a total of 360 active shooter incidents during that period and found that an armed citizen stopped 124,” said John R. Lott, president of the Crime Prevention Research Center.

“There were another 24 cases that we didn’t include where armed civilians stopped armed attacks, but the suspect didn’t fire his gun. Those cases are excluded from our calculations, though it could be argued that a civilian also stopped what likely could have been an active shooting event,” he added.

In looking over FBI cases between 2014-2021, he found that some 34% were stopped by armed citizens, not the 4% cited by the FBI and often used by the media to dismiss the importance of legally armed citizens.

Lott did not assign any blame for the difference, instead citing how some shootings are counted in the FBI’s reporting.

“Two factors explain this discrepancy – one, misclassified shootings; and two, overlooked incidents. Regarding the former, the CPRC determined that the FBI reports had misclassified five shootings: In two incidents, the bureau notes in its detailed write-up that citizens possessing valid firearms permits confronted the shooters and caused them to flee the scene. However, the FBI did not list these cases as being stopped by armed citizens because police later apprehended the attackers. In two other incidents, the FBI misidentified armed civilians as armed security personnel. Finally, the FBI failed to mention citizen engagement in one incident,” said the report.

Lott found that when he adjusted and corrected the numbers, the percentage of shootings stopped by a legal gun owner jumped from single digits to 34%-49%.

He also argued that gun-free zones were a hindrance to good data and defenses that, if eliminated, would boost the percentage of shootings stopped.

“Between 2014 and 2021, citizens stopped 104 out of 204 potential or actual mass shootings where we could identify that guns were allowed in the area. So 51% of attacks were stopped by people legally carrying concealed handguns. Again, the most recent data is most accurate, and for 2021, 58% of the attacks were stopped in areas where people were clearly allowed to carry,” said Lott.

“The numbers indicate if we didn’t have gun-free zones, we would have more people stopping these attacks,” he added in the report.

This Armed Citizen Stopped A Mass Shooting & The Main Stream Media Didn't Want To Cover It - CNP 18

Raul Mendez was shot in the head during the shooting at the surprise house party. He lost an eye, has a numb part of his face, and has compromised hearing.

On This episode of The Colion Noir Podcast, I converse with Raul Mendez, an armed citizen who used his gun to stop a mass shooting that received little to no press coverage by our mainstream media.

Raul details that day and serves as 1 of many examples of how armed citizens turn the tide against mass shooters and help save lives.

He stated that he is thankful to be alive and that protecting his family is all that matters.

Armed Amazon employee stops shooter who opened fire at Arizona facility: 'good Samaritan'
Arizona police say the shooter was suffering from 'jealousy issues'
https://www.foxnews.com/us/armed-amazon-employee-stops-shooter-who-opened-fire-arizona-facility
Andrew Mark Miller (17 December 2022)

An armed Arizona man is being credited as a "good Samaritan" by police after he shot an active shooter in an Amazon facility parking lot, likely preventing further bloodshed.

Police in Chandler, Arizona, say that 29-year-old Jacob Murphy pulled into the employee parking lot of an Amazon facility on Wednesday morning and opened fire after jumping out of his car," KSAZ-TV reported.

Murphy, police said in a statement, did not work at Amazon but had "jealousy issues" regarding his girlfriend, who worked at the facility but was not present at the time.

Police say that Murphy intended to locate an unknown male worker at the facility whom he only knew by first name. When Murphy attempted to enter the facility, he was stopped by a worker who noticed that it was "strange" for Murphy to be there. Murphy shot that worker multiple times after an argument ensued.

An armed Amazon worker on the scene saw what was unfolding, and police say he pulled out his gun and fired at Murphy, wounding him.

"He did come to the aid of an individual who was shot by a suspect. So, in that case, I would say he is a good Samaritan," Sgt. Jason McClimans said in a press conference.

According to a statement from police released on Friday, Murphy was found dead in the parking lot when they arrived at the scene, and the investigation has concluded that he died from both the gunshot wound from the armed employee and a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police say the shooting victim who Murphy first fired on "is still recovering and will survive."

"As previously released, the Chandler Police Department is not investigating the third male, who came to the victim's aid, as a suspect," the police department said in a statement.

Once the investigation is complete, Chandler Police say they will forward the case to the Maricopa County Attorney's Office for review as part of the standard operating procedure in all shooting cases.

"We're deeply saddened by this senseless act of violence in our parking lot. We're working closely with law enforcement as they investigate and are focused on supporting our team during this difficult time," Amazon spokesman Richard Rocha told Fox News Digital in a statement.

A Dollar General clerk is charged with manslaughter after police say he shot and killed an armed robber. The clerk said it was the 6th attempted armed robbery at the store since August.

A Dollar General employee in Louisiana has been charged with manslaughter after police said he shot and killed an armed robber at his store in Monroe, Louisiana.

The police report said Rafus Anderson was working at the Dollar General in downtown Monroe Monday when an armed man robbed the store. Police said Anderson fired a shot that hit the man and a customer as the robber fled the store.

Police responding to the shooting said they found the robber north of the store "lying in the money he had just robbed the store of," according to the report. He later died from the injury.

Dollar General did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

After closing the store, Anderson turned himself in to authorities, the report said.

He told police it was the sixth attempted armed robbery at that location since August, including four successful robberies, and that he was afraid the robber was going to kill him.

TANJIPAHOA PARISH, La. (KLFY) Protecting her children, a Louisiana woman shot and killed a home intruder before dawn Sunday.

According to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office, Robert Rheams, 51 was armed with a shovel and a lug wrench when he allegedly forced his way into the home of the victim and her two young children.

Police arrest ‘major narcotics distributor’ in Louisiana
Chief Jimmy Travis said during the incident, a physical altercation took place between Rheams and the homeowner which led to Rheams being shot and killed.

He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Travis said at the time of the incident, Rheams was out on parole after serving approximately 20 years in prison for armed robbery.

He was also tied to a carjacking that happened hours prior to the home invasion, Travis said.

While it appears, the homeowner was exercising her second amendment rights to protect herself and her children from a violent home invasion, Travis said, the case has been forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office for review.
