Greg Brannon announces statewide Constitutional Government Coalition

The NCGOP is freaking out over the Craven County censure letter. The county chairman is refusing to sign the letter, even though it was approved by a majority of the county's Executive Committee, the state party is sending two lawyers to try to figure out a way to legally invalidate the meeting at which it was approved, and they're going to a meeting of the 3rd District GOP tomorrow (Craven County is in the 3rd District, which is Walter Jones' congressional district) to try to prevent the letter from being discussed and keep the district from following Craven County's lead.

We have to comment on the many many articles about this that it doesn't matter that there is a real Constitutional conservative running, who has support of the tea party groups and a track record, and to look him up. Post a video and a link to his web site.

We know how to do this -- but let's be gentle with what we say.

It appears that Tillis flacks at NCGOP HQ are trying to declare the Craven County GOP's vote to censure the Speaker invalid on a technicality, and Republican lawyers were headed to New Bern for this weekend's 3rd District GOP Executive Committee meeting to ensure that the voice of the people ISN'T heard.

I hope there's a turnout to show support for the Craven County GOP. Maybe the local media will pick it up.

The 3rd district meeting will certainly bear watching. NORMALLY the party faithful will "fall in line" when told what is desired by the bigwigs and by elected officials.

But 3rd district is very unique because of how Walter Jones has been treated by Bohener. Plus there are long standing beefs with the state dating back to the Richard Morgan era.

The presence of the state GOP appachniks in the room could backfire and send more support toward the "thumb in their eye" mindset.

Or not... Like I said, *usually* people are not prepared to rock the boat with the leadership.

The saga of "Tillis Lettergate" continues, and the Haymaker has the scoop

Right now I don't know what to think about it all. It probably makes sense that Tillis should meet with the people who have complaints about him, and maybe it would get smoothed over. But it sounds like the NCGOP badly wants the letter squashed.

Right now, I think the NCGOP can stifle the story for the most part. Craven is a small county, they'll say it was a small number of hotheads at an unofficial meeting.

There isn't time for any other county to give proper notice of an exec meeting and hold it before the state convention, so again the NCGOP can keep the discontent bottled up. If any other counties make a move after the state convention ends though, the grass fire will be spreading.

You can be sure the various county chairs are going to be warned next weekend, not to allow any "reactionary" things to be debated when they go home. It would not surprise me if the NCGOP requests that no county even hold an exec meeting until the primary concludes.

While I normally have a plan to handle something like this ass at a convention I suppose it should wait til there isn't something on the line first.

Yesterday Dr. Brannon addressed the NCGOP State Convention and received a warm welcome. He followed that up by an ice cream social for delegates in the Westin Hotel Andrew Jackson suite, which was packed to the walls.

Here is the video of his speech.

Dr. Greg Brannon is a Cary pro-life Obstetrician and conservative leader in North Carolina. A popular speaker for Tea Party groups the past few years, Dr. Brannon is running in opposition to the Big Government, big spending status quo in both political parties.

“As a doctor, in a medical emergency, you have to identify the source of the problem and then act immediately using your foundational medical principles in order to save a patient’s life. Our country is in a crisis, we have drifted away from the constitutional principles that made this country great. The first thing we must do is stop the bleeding and immediately work to restore our Republic to our founders intent,” said Brannon.

As one of North Carolina’s founders, William Goudy said at the North Carolina Convention in 1788, “power belongs originally to the people, but if the rulers be not well guarded, that power may be usurped from them.”

Brannon added, “The Constitution is not an instrument for the government to restrain the people. It’s an instrument for the people to restrain the government. I’m looking forward to working with these leaders as we fight to Restore The American Dream here in North Carolina.
