Grassroots Newspaper Ad Effort to Be Reported in Major News Outlets

Talk about meetup groups. Talk about the Ron Paul Revolution. Talk about how quickly is was accomplished. Talk about how much it would normally cost for a national campaign to pull something like this off.

Write the story for them: either as a supporter or as a reporter.

There are thousands of news outlets across the US. If we contact all of them, at lest a percentage of them will run with this story: because it is an interesting human interest story. Write a completely objective story that could be picked up by the AP or Reuters.

Remember, local stations and news papers always want stories. Do their jobs for them and get the word out!

I agree, lets not 'get too crazy' about all this... why? well, they might start coming down hard on us... regarding regulations and all of that... lets let this wave grow organically.

Not only that, I put out 4 -1/2 ads in the last week in Ames Iowa... had over 40 rotations of a radio ad on WHO and WOW (today wow fm 98.3 is running the last blast 6x times today -- listen in Des Moines)... so the current ad is FANTASTIC, but its not 'new' in that we at the grassroots level have been doing this for weeks now... same as when meetups march down the street!!! To me, that is MUCH MORE involved.. hahhaha... I am a very shy person... so, lets keep this all in perspective...

Stay tuned.. in the next 1.5 weeks.. I will be making some big announcements for promotion, and we will ALL BE INVOLVED......

lets not draw too much attention to ourselves right now... the powers that be will no doubt get a directive to stomp it... so, to me.. lets be hush.

Xita.. yeah, hold up. The Media has already shown their distaste for ron paul. There are plenty of stories about him, why do you think they need a story about grassroots? This will just draw undo attention to us and perhaps hurt things.. not only that... they ALWAYS spin ron paul, so can you imagine what they will do to us at the grassroots level...

lets not "promote" this... its better if this thing grows organically... do not bring attention to what we do becasue it will be countered and manipulated.. seriously. I know your heart is in the right place..

Would you prefer it stay small? Help me out here.

As to press releases coming from HQ . . . Why would that be a benefit in this case? This is from the grass roots. If 100 people contact 1000 local media outlets and get 50 mentions - is that not a good thing?

Again help me out with the reasoning here.

1. We don't want to attract more reporters to this site.

2. We don't want to attract more trolls.

3. There are frequently things discussed here, that probably should not be and we certainly do not want to draw media attention here.

4. This is not a good place for new people to Ron Paul to come to get information about the doctor. Only die-hard RP supporters and even then, some will be scared off. It seems to be a better idea to send such people to other sites. For example:

I don't think advertising this forum in newspapers and such is necessary, but...

I have been asked to remove the link to this forum from my blog post on the subject. At this point, I have no plans to do so. Despite its warts, this forum is one of the best organizing tools we have. The advertisement itself is a product of the brilliant people on this forum.

Concerns about the Hot Topic trolls are a bit overblown, methinks. That stuff is tucked away where it belongs and isn't visible to non-members. Once people register, they'll quickly pick up on the fact that that stuff is a marginal point of view here.
