Governor Brownback to Attend Ron Paul's Townhall in Topeka, KS

very strange; surely Brownback supports Santorum; he is popular and does not need RP support for himself (and the gov election is 2 years away)

to ask people to vote for Santorum? that would be stupid and rude.

Sam Brownback's facial expressions as Ron Paul talks about the drug war in 2008 are hilarious for some reason. "Oh, there he goes again".

Noteworthy in this video. Paul changed his stance on the death penalty and instead of making excuses or pretending he felt that way all along he explained why with detail. I love him.

Is it possible that many holding office actually support Ron but are afraid of political suicide in voicing support? Four years ago endorsing Ron was a bad move. Today not so much due to his growing support. Also RP supporters gain a lot in the form of grassroots/monetary support. We must be careful of those trying to take advantage of that.

Possibly Brownback sees or knows that the libertarian wing is going to have a major influence on the ticket and/or platform. I went and looked up some old voting scorecards when Brownback was in the Senate. I would have considered Brownback to be a typical social-conservative, but surprisingly he did vote our way at times upwards of 90% of the votes. It should be interesting to hear what he has to say at this event.

This is just a formality. When Presidential candidates address your constituents, you attend.

Ron's Senators in NH attended events for other candidates, Perry's people attended Rand events, etc.

I'm sure that Brownback doesn't support Ron, but just respects him.

Brownback is my Governor, and before that he was my Senator. As Senator, he was kind of the big government, neo-con type, but he's been a decent Governor since he doesn't have any control over foreign policy issues as Governor. He's certainly a vast improvement over our last Governor, Kathleen Sebelius.
