Correct, that was one of the bones offered to insurance companies to go along with Obamacare. I haven't heard if there's any such thing with the new plan.

IMHO the only reason people vote for the left is to punish the GOP. The people in office are so afraid of the media spin that they're trying to cater to the center, which is too far left. Nobody sent them to Washington to fix it. They were sent to repeal it.

But once again the voters don't really get any say.

I don't agree. The Democratic party has regularly done things, recently, which are harmful to their ability to gain/keep power. That's what I mean when I say that they are more concerned with pleasing the loudest among them. Many of the positions they've taken ostracize / turn off more people than they attract.

I can't think of something off the top of my head which the Democrats proposed recently which went directly against their party's supposed values in a manner similar to this bill.

Does this bill repeal that 2000 pages and the mess of Code of Federal Regulations created or does it only change the mandate and tax/fine sections and leave everything else exactly the same?

Insurance companies can limit your reimbursment by bogging you down in bureaucracy. This is the trend. Coverage for "pre-existing conditions" is meaningless. They sold this lie. It's classic de facto versus de jure.

The simple fact is insurance companies scooped up the non-covered people to enrich themselves. The ONLY thing someone needs to know about this law order is that you are required to buy a product. Saying that It's good because everybody is now covered is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard in my life.

The Democratic Party might have done some things accidently that have harmed their ability to keep power. But not on purpose.

I do agree that the Republican Party is somewhat more hypocritical than the Democratic Party. Many times Republicans will say the right things about liberty and free markets but do the opposite when they get in power. Democrats, on the other hand, believe in less liberty and more socialism and they usually honor their promises when they get in power. I'm not sure which is worse.

Is the bill allowing insurers to charge this (they aren't allowed to do that now?), or requiring them to do it?

...can't find a straight answer.
