Glenn Beck: ‘Liberals, You Were Right,’ We Should Never Have Gone into Iraq

Yep Beck, funny how the "liberals" were all for the Libyan intervention which I think contributed more to ISUS than the 2003 invasion. Without the Libyan intervention the rebels in Syria would never have been committed themselves like they did, thinking the US was going to supply an air force. Without the long term war in Syria ISUS could never have been born.
Funny how Republicans were all against the Libyan invasion, and every foreign policy intervention that Obama has spearheaded...we all know that if Bush/Cheney had engineered it, they would have been wrapped in flags chanting USA! USA! salivating over the first wave of coffins.

He is still an idiot.. blown about by every breeze.

And he is wrong,,again.. Saddam was not funding terrorists.. Saudi Arabia was,, Israel was,, and the US is.

Funding them,,training them and supplying them.

Pretty funny how the world is. Even LIbertarians like RP voted for a open ended war when his congressional seat depended on it and libertarians chanted RP! RP! RP! Human nature is a joke.

Yeah, the part about liberals not wanting "nation building" doesn't sound right either.

But I wonder, what kind of "liberals" is Beck talking about? Because the establishment progressives support wars, intervention and nation building. Is Beck playing a word game here? Is he going back to the Founding Fathers definition of "liberal"? He doesn't use the word "left". Beck uses the word "progressives" in the next paragraph, and asks if they really agree with non-intervention. He is making a distinction between progressives and liberals. I almost get the feeling that Beck is actually praising Ron Paul (and libertarians) for being right, without having to be clear about it.

Maybe other libertarians do, I don't know. Not me. I don't make excuses for that vote.

I'm guessing he voted that way to appease his conservative (R) supporters though, not his libertarian (LP) supporters.

Prime example of why politics sucks.

And my interpretation of this isn't a way of defending Beck. Beck is being a chicken by not saying exactly what he means; what he can't bring himself to actually say: Ron Paul and his supporters were right.

It's telling that Beck would rather kiss liberal ass than admit that Ron Paul's foreign policy was right.

Beck = still a traitor and a snake
Don't you know?

It's not about right vs. wrong
It's certainly not about principles or convictions or integrity.

The game is always the same. Always.

Team Blue vs. Team Red

Open ended? I don't recall the original Afghanistan authorization being open-ended. Ex-Paul staffers claimed that Ron did not want to vote for it, and the staff threatened to resign if he didn't vote for it (after Ron's proposal was discarded).

Here is what Ron wanted, and introduced:

107TH CONGRESS 1ST SESSION
H. R. 3076
To authorize the President of the United States to issue letters of marque
and reprisal with respect to certain acts of air piracy upon the United
States on September 11, 2001, and other similar acts of war planned
for the future.

IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
OCTOBER 10, 2001
Mr. PAUL introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on International Relations

The wording is interesting. Who is he really talking about? Classical liberals? Indicates more of a weasel than a snake... ;)

You are right. Liberals, you were right. We shouldn’t have.

Now, if you believed those things, let me say: You were right. If you were just using it for political purposes, well, we don’t have anything in common, But if you really believe those things, I would like to have a conversation with you now to find out exactly how you came to terms with that – especially being a progressive. If you know the history of the progressive movement, it was Theodore Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson that started imposing democracy in South America. The reason why South America is just loaded with communists is because we put a lot of them in. That’s the progressive ideal.

It's possible that Beck was using this wording as a way to call out progressives, and to make clear that they are not true, classical "liberals". Who knows.

But why only call out progressives? Neocons (who believe they are "conservatives") also need to be called out. They were the ones who f*cked up Iraq in the first place.

Why don't you quit with that fucking lie.

Ron Paul voted to authorize force to bring those responsible to justice.. He did not vote for an invasion,, or the removal of the legitimate government of that country. He did not vote for a war, and no war was authorized.

And he has restated that repeatedly.

Beck using Ron Paul material way late and in ways designed to strategically manipulate the argument to sell his channel and profile.

So what else is new in media land?!

All media has to do is pull you off the mark just a little to make you miss the mark completely at the strategic moment! They are systematically profiling the people they want to be the champions all the time.

Wake up America!

I'm over riding the Beck roller coaster and getting excited over some little crumb of possible evolved thinking he tosses out, only to be completely undermined with some subsequent pathetic drivel. I've no faith in him whatsoever.

I usually ignore him completely,, till some fool starts raving on his propagandizing ass.

“You cannot force democracy on the Iraqis or anybody else,” largely because “If people vote for Sharia Law, they vote for Sharia Law.”

This-is-what democracy-looks-like!

Glenn Beck is political conman getting not rich, but wealthy, by using the left/right game. 90% of all people are born followers, Glenn Beck targets the followers and gets them to buy into his scheme. You think by now with the $10 of millions he has socked away, he wouldn't still be peddling all his two bit crap to subscribe and buy.

Snake Oil men of the 21st century... some things never change.

PS: I call him out just for the internetz hits, hopefully others will awaken to the conman cloud he casts upon.
