Glenn Beck evolving?

With all the Glenn Beck threads on this board lately, you would think there is some sort of nefarious campaign afoot to convince us this douchebag has reformed. Guess I'm just paranoid.

He's an asshole and will always be an asshole.

There are probably many users on here that were "assholes". However, they later became pro-liberty. Radio talk show hosts have been converted to libertarianism too - look at Mike Church. Is it not possible for Glenn to be undergoing the same ideological shift?

It's going to take a whole lot more than words... We'll see what he does in the next election cycle. Until then, I stand firm by my opinion that he's a blubbering asshole with no moral center.

I'm skeptical about Barr. A couple of people on here convinced me that he would be worth supporting for Congress. I definitely won't be donating to his campaign though.

We all know he was no libertarian, regardless of who the party endorsed.

he has gone through this 'evolution' before and it has been completely fake, and destructive as he coopted people then at key moments turned them away from those actually furthering the ideology.

If you think he is simply a dishonest, manipulative person, it is hard to trust further, equally 'heartfelt' conversions.

If we cannot accept people evolving, adapting, and fitting into our liberty movement, then we're not moving anywhere.

I've watched Beck on and off since about 2004... I used to not be able to sit through more than 2 minutes. Now I'll sit through a 10 minute clip. I'll disagree at times... as I will with Rand... but I will listen. Its not because I have changed so much... but because I do honestly believe Glenn has and is seeing the vision those of us in the core of this movement have been harping on for a decade or more.

The political GOAL of the LIBERTY MOVEMENT is to change the way people think; to get them to embrace LIBERTY and JOIN OUR SIDE.

I keep my defenses up with people who we have fought in the past, but I think it is an awful shame to refuse to warm up to people like Beck that are beginning to open their minds and hearts to our vision. I want Liberals to defect and join the Liberty movement and I want Conservatives to do the same. I'm not in this so I CAN BE RIGHT and everyone else can serve as my punching bag.

The sad thing is that far too much time is spent on focusing on the small areas of disagreement that are had with an individual or group rather than uniting against those who disagree with us on 100% of the issues. This is nothing new granted, but is what keeps this movement from really growing at a more rapid pace. Some people sadly, would prefer to have their small little clique rather than face anyone who has a slightly different view on an issue or two than they do.

Sweet, except this guy is a liar who torpedoes those he supposedly would support if he were truthful about his ideology to begin with. Character issues are different from 'place in personal education' issues.

I'd need something indicating to me he had repaired his character and see nothing on that front.

On the subject of Beck:

Lets go ahead and call exactly it like it is. Beck, Levin, Savage, etc. agree with Ron Paul on the majority of issues. The only difference is that Ron Paul is neutral on Israel, and they are pro-Israel to the point where they don't consider Israel a separate nation. In some respects or situations, they may even consider it more important than the USA.

This split has always existed in the general libertarian movement and even in the Ron Paul movement and on this forum. It always will. There are those who don't like Israel's policies, there are those who fully support everything that is perceived to be in Israel's interest, and there is everything in between.
