Getting really pissed off about the media bias.. we HAVE to do something

What to do about it is to say f them, get your news from other sources, and not count on them to get out our vote.

Do it yourself!

The complexity of the ownership of the 5 major media companies is too deep in the weeds to get into here, but suffice it to say that big banking institutions have billions and billions of shares in all the major network, print, and cable news companies. Ron Paul's message of limited government, ending the wars, and instituting sound fiscal policy is just bad for their business interests. So, the most effective way to change their attitudes is to hurt them where it hurts them the most... their pocketbooks, but faced with the reality of a Ron Paul presidency where their leverage, influence, and profits would be greatly diminshed, they have made a calculated decison that marginalizing Ron Paul would be the better startegy in keeping his appeal to a minimum. We are a creative bunch. If we can find ways to circumvent the corporate media, our task will be easier.

I wish we could start our own 24/7 news network. Surely if some of the more prominent supporters organized it, they could get quite a number of investors.

Is streaming a 24/7 internet based news company technically feasible ? I am not too savy on internet issues, so just asking if it possible since start up costs would be low I would assume.

Common guys we cannot let them get away with this. Either the Paul campaign has to address this or we need to.

He could say something very simple along the lines of 'Why vote for me? Just look at why the media keeps ignoring although I am second nationwide. The answer? Corporatism. All the lobbyists and big government supports control the media, so they just ignore me. Additionaly, look at my track record, I've been in congress for x terms and I never voted for anything that increases our government or is unconstitutional - everyone calls me Dr no. I'm the only real candidate, the rest here are just going to flip flop and war monger to get your votes'. Needs rephrasing but you get my point. By remaining the 'nice guy', we WILL finish last. It's time for Paul to SPEAK UP damnit.. I'm pissed.

It's called infiltrating the media. Just like we fake we are a Gingrich supporter/on the fence to get on radio shows, we need to do the same thing to the MSM machine. If it starts happening enough, people are start going to take notice. Paul kind of led that way with Cavuto today, only to get shot down so I think he was sending a message to us that we start doing the same thing.

Maybe banners with CNN or Fox News is lying to you, go here to find out why, or call here to find out why. Start tuning people in. Grassroots effort.

Ron needs to proactively respond to attempts to marginalize him during the debate. He can not stand there and let them f**k with him. During the last debate he did not address King's "do you want in on this". He should come back like a ton of bricks instead of goofy hand waves. If he thinks he can act like Gandhi, he will never get elected.

We have to make a call to people inside the MSM to release hard evidence of the bias.. we need to put a mole inside if necessary.

That's unlikely to happen. Most people in the media are already far-left. They'll never want to help us. And even if there are some decent people there they wouldn't risk losing such a sweet job. We need to get the "hard" evidence ourselves. Even if we have to play dirty.

one thing that I recall from the wonderful "101 things to do til the revolution' by Claire Wolfe ... at least I *think* that is where I first read of the idea....

When you call radio talk shows or write letters to the editor....take some idea of one of the other candidates *all the way to its logical conclusion.* If you're on air, you can't laugh - act very serious about it.

It is up to us to get ourselves IN to the debates and when the hosts try to skip him, we RAISE HELL. Bring the damn thing to a halt if we have to. Of course, be prepared to be tasered or worse. But still, I think it is something we're going to have to do.

That's why we need a alternate media that fits the pattern that Americans are used to. A version of CNN, FOX, MSNBC that tells the truth. This can be done by setting up an internet channel (several) that has 24 hr news and stories. Also alternate health and human interest. People just come home and set their Roku or streamer to the channel(s) and watch. No effort. There is plenty of programming out there. Just needs to be put together. It could actually be a big money maker too, but I'd be satisfied to get real information out there. Advantages over cable is obvious; the cost. Cable is not cheap. People pay for the propaganda, old movies etc. Most could save $1,000/year by junking the cable and just using the internet and get much more. Movies and most TV shows only add $9/mo for unlimited views via the internet. To do a pay per view movie from cable is $5 for one. No need to return to redbox.

The above would be a real threat to then establishment media. Their multi billion industry will crumble, and with that, the lies will not be effective.

No no.. don't worry about the corporate media propaganda machine, they might be slightly biased but we can overcome that by giving money to the campaign that can then give it to this same corporate media for a few moments of our message in ads in between a sea of their propaganda and I'm sure we'll convince people to vote for Ron, I mean all we have to do is show them the facts and they'll make the right choice no matter what the propaganda says. Also we can win straw polls to get some promotion at least to those people who attend since the ones we win wont get reported on anyway. We can also sign wave, that'll really show the media who's boss. And pay no attention to the polls, everyone knows the polls are rigged..

/end sarcastic rant

p.s.: I told you so and now it's too late.

There are various costs to it besides distribution including buying high quality equipment, location, and paying talking heads and reporters. You will need a high viewership potential to pay for it all.

throw the tv to your local dump, resell it.

just use the Internet. There is our power.

No connected TV here. Just for console gaming.

I'm one block away from a Fox station right now. Why wouldn't we Occupy Fox from coast to coast and see if they can black that out?

I know what my sign will be: FOX: HELPING REPUBLICANS PICK THE BIGGEST LOSER SINCE BOB DOLE

That's awesome. lol

To me, the long term solution is for the liberty movement itself to be working on building a reputation for sound journalism with it's own competing alternative media outlets- cable station, magazine, radio etc.

The media is heavily cartelized by a few corporations. The message/narrative is well controlled. The message has to be spread at the grassroots level at this time. JMHO.

See, the deal though is that in an election time, special rules apply to ads being run by candidates. One of those rules is that the networks MUST run the ad, no matter what the content (following the broadcast rules).
The campaign could have been spending its millions on ads, run during O'Reilly's show, showing that he is a liar, and has serious anger issues.
They could have been running ads during Hannity, showing how Hannity's "charity for the troops" kept 75% of the money raised, while only 25% (if that) actually went to the troops...most charities are the complete opposite.

They could have run ads on all networks like this, showing the media for what they are. Liars.
They could have been running radio ads during these same programs, and the only thing the media could do, would be to continue their hatred against RP...which he gets no matter what. At least by exposing them directly to their audiences, it starts to wake some people up.

You would be surprised on how cost effective it could be. Mostly you would just need to piece together the programing from what is already being done. Programs by Mises institute (economics), news from RT and others.

The entry costs to this would be the lowest to establish an a new media in history. The viewership is guaranteed by those that hate cable. Most Americans hate the media also.

Not sure what your point is. You do realize that the vast majority of new RP votes didn't come because of positive media coverage. Every gain made has been from Paul's powerful statements and arguments. In spite of the media jihad against all RP stands for since he first entered the national spotlight. Every improvement and new voter came from listening to him, not what the media says about him.

Positive change will never come from the top-down. It's always been decentralized. Which is why myself and so many people here stress the need for a strong foreign policy ad. The campaign needs to step up its game because they have all the ammo required to break through on this. It is the last piece of the puzzle for the GOP and Blue Dog Dem voters as well as indies. They know in their hearts his economic policy is airtight. All that remains is to successfully prove he is for a strong and free nation. If RP cannot do it, then Rand or the new generation of conservative statesmen for liberty will.
