Gary Johnson Gary Johnson just announced that he is running for President

There are some great comments about Gary's candidacy at HotAir.

Number of times the word "who" appears: 45

Yep. Not all first time candidates have great name recognition. In fact some candidates who hold Federal office and are on their second run for POTUS have name recognition problems:

Yeah, but that was US putting out that campaign. It followed the 'who is John Galt' from Atlas Shrugged. This time we need to let Santorum have it, so Gary has to find his own.

I'm making more of an assessment at people making fun of lesser known governors running for office. You know there was a little known Governor who did beat a high trending incumbent. Granted, Gary is not in office currently.

Actually, most don't come here for government benefits. It's jobs. We have cheaper goods in this country because of the illegal workers.

It's free education and medical care for their kids, and housing benefits and food stamps AND jobs which they couldn't live off of because they aren't paid a living wage, if they didn't have the other benefits paid for by people competing for jobs themselves. It is not a free market under those circumstances and lower cost of goods does not make up the difference for those most impacted.

I'm not saying ALL fit the category above, but enough do that a huge percentage of the aid given out in California goes there, and if ever there was a state that couldn't afford it....

For those who wanted to be here for jobs alone, note, my solution doesn't impact them unless they also take benefits.

Seriously, the majority are single young men and/or women who send money home and live in low quality of conditions. I'm just tired of demonizing people who are trying to work and get ahead. I'd rather us strike against corporate America and Agribusiness who are given handouts and subsidies while they hire illegal labor.

I haven't demonized anyone BamaFan, you are speaking to someone who isn't here. Not everyone who says this is financially unsustainable hates immigrants. The fact is the benefits ARE subsidies to agribusiness which would otherwise have to pay a living wage.

I don't demonize them, but I think they should be sent packing if they're caught illegally and be forced to wait in line like the millions of Mexicans who currently are.

But yes, the ones who need to be demonized are the corporations and farms that receive subsidies and hire illegals. Hell, all companies who hire illegals should be fined.

The solution: dismantle the welfare state, secure the border, and then allow people in as needed. Trade with Mexico on fair terms to both. Then you'll have a much more prosperous continent, not just America.

this^^

Actually it was a GOP Primary and not statewide election poll so, I am not gaga over it. Also, I am referring to Gary when he ran for Governor.

I am voting for Ron or Gary. Fact is, neither are going to win. The delusions on this board that the system is not rigged is comical.

This.

I've always said levy a $1,000,000 fine per illegal. Then you will see it stop.

I don't think businesses should act as unpaid detectives for the Federal Government. They shouldn't be penalized for not figuring out who is and isn't illegal.

Ah yes. Knowing who you hire and their legal information is not something businesses do by nature.

Of course they should know who they hire. Just like companies are responsible for their employees' negligence, they are responsible for hiring people ineligible to work in the United States and should be held accountable.

One of the reasons I joined this forum was to speak out against Gary Johnson when people started calling him "the next Ron Paul". His interview with Hannity showed how utterly clueless he was when he said that Iraqi's need to pay us back for "liberating them". Like it or not, this movement IS about Ron Paul. Why? Not only because of his philosophy, but because he's trustworthy, simple as that. I do not trust Gary Johnson. Distancing himself from RP does not help either. If you want to vote for Gary over Ron, fine, but have fun splitting up the vote and fucking up a good chance to win this time around.

Many people did not bother to watch the republican debates in 2008 and instead focused on the democratic ones. Many more people will be watching this time around, especially independents tired of Obama, and Ron Paul will have a reasonable message that will appeal to them. We have a MUCH better chance to win this time around.

Again, this movement is not about one man, never has.... never will. This movement was before Ron was even in politics.

Then go vote for any libertarian. They represent the same ideologies as Ron. This movement is about a man who is TRUSTWORTHY.
