Gary Johnson Gary Johnson just announced that he is running for President

Then go vote for any libertarian. They represent the same ideologies as Ron. This movement is about a man who is TRUSTWORTHY.

Funny enough, my family voted for a libertarian with the same ideologies in 1988.

That's like saying: Would you avoid the draft? I sure as hell won't expose myself to fines/jail.

No it's not. One is giving yourself to slavery.

The other is protecting your business and livelihood. I see nothing wrong with not hiring someone with certain criminal antecedents or who is not eligible to work in the US. That doesn't mean reporting them, just means not hiring them in the first place.

Again, this movement is not about one man, never has.... never will. This movement was before Ron was even in politics.

LOL!

Not with me in it it wasn't, BamaFan. I didn't vote for Barr, wouldn't vote for Johnson. I'd vote for Rand or maybe Ruwart, and BJ Lawson and others I trust. Not posers, any more. Ron raised my standards. I'd probably vote for Mike Lee, although I still have a few questions about him and Rand too, even. A thirty year record like Ron has answers a lot of questions.

How dare you associate our support for Ron Paul with Jonestown imagery. It is positively disgusting and offensive.

I actually feel bad for you. I think you are being sucked into this Johnson hate fest that is a distortion of his record. It's odd to me so many "haters" also say "Run for Senate." Then again, he must be a poser since he was invited by anti-liberty politician to this event:

You're being an unpaid servant to the government if you're forced to do detective work for them. How is that not slavery?

If I have a small business, with very few employees, I don't have many resources to check the background. If somebody gives me proof that he can do the job, I pay him in exchange for it without further red tape.

One of the reasons I joined this forum was to speak out against Gary Johnson when people started calling him "the next Ron Paul". His interview with Hannity showed how utterly clueless he was when he said that Iraqi's need to pay us back for "liberating them". Like it or not, this movement IS about Ron Paul. Why? Not only because of his philosophy, but because he's trustworthy, simple as that. I do not trust Gary Johnson. Distancing himself from RP does not help either. If you want to vote for Gary over Ron, fine, but have fun splitting up the vote and fucking up a good chance to win this time around.

Many people did not bother to watch the republican debates in 2008 and instead focused on the democratic ones. Many more people will be watching this time around, especially independents tired of Obama, and Ron Paul will have a reasonable message that will appeal to them. We have a MUCH better chance to win this time around.

This! ^

Well then, you're not a very smart businessman. A background check can run you for as little as $10, and you can usually get them for under $30. E-Verify is free. And I'm not doing it for the government, I'm doing it to protect my business. What if you own a restaurant, and you hire a guy who has a criminal past of sexual abuse, and re-offends on the job? You're liable to a lawsuit.

And why would you be a government servant? Doesn't mean you have to turn them in, just don't hire them. Although I would turn in an illegal out of principle.

BamaFan, I don't need youtubes of Johnson, I watched two more today just in case I had missed something attractive about him when I was actively trying to like him, watching him at the rally for the republic and at Ron's C4L CPAC events he was in last year.... and I still don't like watching him speak. He doesn't answer the question, if it is hard, he answers a different one. Ron doesn't do that. I don't like Gary, and you can like him if you want. I am not trying to put you down, I'm just saying I don't like him, myself.

You are forced to do detective work to achieve the goverment's objectives because if you don't do it, they fine you and jail you.

OK. So if I can save my production costs for $30, and I do it, then I'm not very smart. LOL!

There exist other businesses that are not restaurants. In this world there are jobs that don't require employees to have any interaction with any client.

I'm cool with that. Many people said Rand didn't answer questions. I do see Gary and Rand very similar in style of answering questions in a more political way. Also, I look more at what they do in office and Gary was stellar in my assessment.

Those $30 might save you a couple thousand in fines...

Still worth the small cost of a background check. Cut down on many risks...Also it could cut down your costs, most liablity insurance will require your employees to be checked.

Again, you seem to know very little about the business world. There are many products for which you have mechanisms to verify automatically and efficiently that the output of your employees is perfect, and you might have your own verification mechanism and not even have insurance. Example, some types of software.

I was just mentioning what I noticed in the youtubes I watched today. There are several of his positions I don't like as well. And as for Rand, if he had answered questions, I wouldn't have any, but I did take him on faith enough to let him have a chance at a record. But what you are talking about, his manner of presenting himself, is a big reason why I still do watch for his record. (And I'm pretty pleased with it, I have to say.) Gary I disagree with, I think he dissed Ron who only does and says good things for him, and I think he postures. It isn't JUST style.

But that is only to say I'm unlikely to change my mind on Gary. You are entitled to see things your own way.

Well, he was asked 3 times today to comment about Ron Paul and he always said, "I ran for Governor 2 times and never mentioned my opponent by name. I discussed the issues." I don't see him trashing people.
