Gary Johnson Gary Johnson just announced that he is running for President

He will always get the "Paulastinians" riled up but, he's not someone who inspires. His content is better than his style. Style wise, he's pretty weak. His voice is not great and he does not look like he stepped out of central casting. Seriously, some on here think he's one step from Jesus when he speaks but, it's not style that gets us excited. Truth is, he's not a great speaker.

Obama is a great speaker.

That said, Hitler and Al Sharpton are great speakers..... I'd vote for neither. In fact, one of my all time favorite Presidents was known for being a boring man:

Yes, this is true, but it doesn't at all matter. RP gets the "Paulastinians" riled up, but why? It has everything to do with the man, his message, and his style. Sometimes, having no game is the best game you can have. People want honesty, straightforwardness, and commitment to principle without ego, now more than ever, I would argue. GJ does not have these qualities in anywhere near the same helpings.

I don't think anyone from Pennsylvania can classify as a great speaker. That accent is so annoying. The only worse accents are hick (not Southern) accents.

However, what I'm saying is that on occasion, Paul can get a crowd riled. Johnson can't. With RP, we occasionally sound like a group of Pentecostals. With Johnson, Presbyterians have us beat as far as excitement goes.

Edit: I'm a Presbyterian, so I can say that.

You missed him getting the FreedomWorks people riled up when talking about Marijuana. The BOOOOOOOOS were loud. :)

I was raised in a Presbyterian church south of the Mason-Dixon, and you're gettin' me excited.

Does anyone have a comment about my point that we don't want to offer a dynasty like the Bushes did, Ron Paul might want to retire before he dies, and running a campaign for years in advance of the one you really need to win seems helpful?

I'm a Southern Presbyterian as well. Admit it: We can be a bit dull at times.

It has been my experience we're some of the sharpest people around.

Johnson needs practice. Let's let him get some. Might come in handy if our man is too busy trying to straighten out the Bush/Obama mess in four years to run again.

Personal preference then. Some of us do in fact get inspired by substance over style. Just because you don't get inspired by good content, don't rule out others getting excited by it.

Obama is a great speaker.

Wow. I really have to disagree with this. Great speakers inspire and have unique styles and unique messages. Obama's voice sounds friendly and pleasant and that's where it ends for me. He just sounds like some guy reciting or reading poorly written canned speeches from somebody else. Good speech writers craft something that will sound unique and utilize the speaker's unique abilities. Obama's speeches are daft and listless.

Not stupid. Boring.

Am I? Well, I guess I'll just have to improve the quality of my puns. Do you disagree Johnson needs practice? Or that us trying replacing one Paul with another could make them smell like Bushes? Or that, even with his faults, we have dozens of candidates who can measure up to Johnson?

Well, then, we will just have to see how Johnson acts and what he says, and how he says it, both immediately before, after, and during the May 5th debate. Lets see whose side he is really on.

I believe that Onion will not touch my mouth, though, come May 6th

Johnson running for president is a good thing for liberty, but obviously not a favorable thing for Paul.

The fact that there will hopefully two liberty minded candidates debating is a welcoming scenario if we wish to return the GOP to its roots.

I said we can be pretty boring at times, not all the time.

As far as Johnson goes I'd never consider voting for Johnson because I'm not convinced he's pro-life. I don't vote for pro-choice people.

LOL!

Well, I meant he is generally considered by people who don't require substance to be a good speaker. I meant all the style crap is just crap when you come down to it, although it can first grab someone's attention.
