Gary Johnson Gary Johnson Is Seeking the LP Nomination

at this point, gary would probably have the nerve to run third party against rp should rp get the nomination.

Assuming Johnson actually received nomination from folks who've been very active in the LP and LP politics. Ventura wants the LP to come bent over asking him to grace their party with his nomination. The LP spends a LOT of resources getting ballot access every cycle. None of the politicians seem to appreciate it. At least Johnson's aware there's a nomination process...

Big mistake for Gary. He should get in line, get behind, and contribute to the liberty movement. I can support Gary on a lot of issues, but to get my full support EVER, he would need to listen to the libertarians and alike. So far, he hasn't been to open to 2-way communication with the party, so now that he has nowhere to go politically, how the hell does he expect the LP to rally behind him?

Get in line Gary, don't get in the way! This is not the time to boost your political career with oddball campaigns, the country is in shambles.

This is disappointing. Gary would be a shoe-in for US Senate, where he could do some good, and build up a liberty oriented, small government voting record.

Also, if Gary thought it was hard to get into a GOP Primary debate, he will find that getting into a General Election debate as a Libertarian will be impossible.

I've known this for months. Someone major in the LP in PA told my friend this months ago that Gary told this guy he would do this if the Republican nomination wasn't going well. I was more excited about it at the time since the election wasn't really shaped yet, but as I've seen Gary speak and learn his positions more I'm not really as much of a fan of him like I was. Plus, he seems to just being doing it out of anger rather than doing something to help this country. If he was really concerned about the country and knew what was happening to him (when things weren't looking so good) he should have just endorsed Ron Paul and went campaigning for him.

He can do as he wishes, but I just don't want him to be dividing up the liberty movement. This is like the worst time for Libertarians, AnCaps, Paeloconservatives, Classical Liberals, Traditional Conservatives, and Constitutionalists to be divided on a candidate ever. We actually have a chance at cutting the size and scope of government with Ron Paul and people want to split on petty things. We can all get behind Ron Paul. There is enough in common with him and all of us to support him with full force.

Gary has said that publicly. The update is that he's actually making the connections now.

The main reason he's doing this is for an excuse not to endorse Ron Paul. It will be funny if he doesn't even get the LP nomination.

I don't think he'll do it if Ron Paul gets the nomination. I think he just wants a shot at it if Paul can't run. Let's be honest, we still face a really uphill battle here. Paul's nomination is very important, but it's far from assured that he'll get it.
