Fox removing Ron Paul’s name from their news?

Once again, there is no contractual obligation of a news organization to run a story from the newswire services unaltered. AP stories are routinely truncated or merely quoted in part as part of a longer article, and it's up to the editors of the news organization using the newswire piece to do with it as they see fit.

A journalist with any shred of integrity wouldn't so obviously remove Paul's name from that list. All you've done is confirm Fox's raging bias against Paul. Don't write letters. Digg the story.

The story was edited in such a way that it created false information.

The edited version states "ONLY Mitt Romney, Fred Thompson and Duncan Hunter have passed through since September."

You cannot edit an AP story "as you see fit" if it falsifies the information in the original story.

indeed. blatant omissions are lying:

Lying by omission

Lying by omission is when an important fact is omitted, deliberately leaving another person with a misconception. This includes failures to correct pre-existing misconceptions.

It goes beyond lying by omission. If the edited version had stated "Mitt Romney, Fred Thompson and Duncan Hunter have passed through since September." That would have been lying by omission.

However, the edited version states "ONLY Mitt Romney, Fred Thompson and Duncan Hunter have passed through since September."

The "only" means NO other Republican candidate, which is completely false. The story was specifically edited to both insert "only" AND omit Ron Paul's name.

Yeah, on second reading, with emphasis on the "ONLY", they are deliberately falsifying the relayed information by editing Ron Paul's name out.

well, I meant lying by omission in that they are providing a list and omitting Ron Paul from that list. either way, it's lying.

Did they give credit to AP for this news article? If so, there should be some repercussions for blatantly editing an article from their AP source.

It's definitely the same wording just with RP's name removed.

Maybe it is plagiarism. However, Fox will claim that it did not violate copyright because it modified the AP work into a new original work (new reality).

that is just brutally incriminating.

FOX is shooting themselves in the foot. These types of things make them lose whatever credibility they have left as an objective news source. When reputation suffers, ratings fall and so does ad revenue.

Wow. This is unfreakin'-believeable. But let's be careful guys. They are becoming so blatent about this now. It could be a trap to provoke some of the more "extremist" type supporters (This isn't an attack. The majority of us are pretty level headed. But there's always a few hot heads in every group) into doing something stupid. Don't know what that might be but.. just the same. It appears FAUX is looking for a fight.

I know there are media watch groups out there that usally look out for this sort of thing. I have to sign off now, but maybe someone can google that term and contact a few of them about this.

Geez... this is unreal.
