They really don't explain anything other than to say it was a "program error", but it's interesting that this story is starting to gain some steam with Mediaite now picking it up. I wonder if Fox News will pull these shenanigans again anytime soon, now that it is starting to attract attention.

Fox News Explains Why Rand Paul Was Left Out of 2016 Poll Graphic

by Matt Wilstein | 6:57 pm, May 29th, 2015

A funny thing happened on Thursday morning when Fox & Friends presented the results of the most recent Quinnipiac poll that found five Republican presidential candidates tied for first place with 10% each. Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), who finished sixth on the list with 7%, was no where to be found:

...

And apparently, this is not the first time Fox has left Paul out of it’s polling coverage. Earlier this month, Fox placed Paul’s name at the bottom and Jeb Bush’s name at the top of a graphic that showed how candidates are fairing against Hillary Clinton, despite the fact that Paul was the leader. Then, the following week, Fox left Paul out of its internal poll completely, which once again showed Bush in the lead.

Mediaite reached out to a Fox News representative who explained the Fox & Friends omission was nothing more than a “program error.” Also, Sen. Paul appeared on Fox & Friends May 26th.

They literally pulled that explanation out of a hat, but hey, someone in the media called them out and someone with a voice noticed the omission.

Wow, Politico has picked this up too.

Fox News' poll coverage omits Rand Paul

By DYLAN BYERS | 5/29/15 5:57 PM EDT

Since Rand Paul launched his bid for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination, he has consistently finished between third and sixth place in polls that include as many as 19 GOP contenders.

Yet when Fox News reports on those polls, the Kentucky senator is at times nowhere to be found. For instance: A Quinnipiac poll released Thursday had Paul in sixth. But when Fox News ran an image of ten candidates under the banner, "If The Republican Primary Were Held Today," based on that poll, Paul's name and visage were missing.

Rare's Nick Morpus notes that Fox News similarly omitted Paul from an in-house poll it ran two weeks ago, measuring how Republican hopefuls would fare against Hillary Clinton. Paul's name just wasn't there. Never mind that two weeks prior to that, Fox News did include Paul's name in a survey that showed him polling highest against Hillary.

UPDATE (7:15 p.m.): A Fox News spokesperson told the On Media blog that the omission was nothing more than a “program error." Sen. Paul appeared on Fox News last week, on May 26th.

Leave out Rubio a few times and we'll call it even-Steven going forward.

When it happens twice on the same day on two separate FOX News shows (Fox and Friends and the Strategy Room), its not an error :mad::mad: ....

So much to those that say we should do nothing and that doing something doesn't work. :toady:

As I recall, people there said we should be shaming FOX instead of writing FOX. This appears to be the strategy that is working. It's not FOX who is responding to emails, but to mediaite and politico for having been shamed.

This thread would appear to validate the people in that thread who said don't email FOX, it won't help and it may be counterproductive, instead shame them publicly.

Shaming them publicly appears to actually be working.

Why do you think they are being shamed? Because people are bringing it to the attention of the public including other media.

And those sources pick up these stories because we put it out there. I have no objection to some good ol public shaming.

Once is an anomaly. Twice is a coincidence. Three times is a pattern.

And a thousand times is a 'programming error'. Damn straight it is, Fox. You've been using the same tactics in 'programming' the public for far too long.

It's Fox's job to steer Republicans to a loser. As proven by the fact that whoever polls best against them either gets downplayed, gets called 'unelectable', or both.

See? I told you that you can't fix stupid.

2015 NOTE: Those are or were all polls showing that of the 2012 GOP candidates, the only one who could unseat Obama in the general election had the monogram RP.

Just damn! Somebody give me a 2x4. I gotta learn a mule somethin'.

Why do all of Fox's programming errors seem to be focused on Rand Paul? If they were truly random errors, they would have been spread out among the other candidates.

I'm calling shenanigans!

Its great that the media is covering this. Now when Fox does it again, it will automatically get attention.

Yeah, it's weird. I've been working my brain to death trying to remember the last time I saw media outlets acting like they were in competition with one another, and I'm drawing a complete blank.

That competition stuff works pretty well, doesn't it? Though I strongly suspect they're just afraid Jon Stewart will scoop them again.
