Fox News 2016 Republican presidential debate in Cleveland - Official Thread

He dismissed him like he was insignificant. Rand looked bad. Trump already explained why he wants an independent system.

Trump said he was the only one talking about illegal immigration. That he was the only one against a single payer system. He's in his own world gloating on himself and Paul called him on it "we've been against a single payer system for over a decade"

Means that line was planned ahead for maximum social media exposure.

I personally didn't like that line. Hug went too far.

Oh please, I LOVED IT and so did the audience. They thought Christie's response was a low blow. After all, it was the HUG that changed the race in favor of Obama. Screw Christie...

Bush has been the most impressive, but it's been like a bloody infomercial for him. So rigged.

FNC hosts will say he was the most impressive, Presidential and staying about the fray. I however think his performance was terrible. Like a deer in the head lights. He comes across as being a little slow.

I didn't like it because it specifically mentioned Obama. It's not just about Obama. It's about not trusting government.

He's playing to the same crowd who were ready to ban Christie from the RNC in 2012 after that hug.

I am in tears right now. Our country needed to hear that... Rand has won this debate.. Oh my god that was amazing... I don't give a damn if rand wins anymore. This was more important. Our Bill of rights is too important. That was the most inspiring moment in a debate that I have ever seen... Even more than Ron's answer about electability.

I don't know what I was expecting. But these questions the first hour were all stupid.

What about the cost of living going up? What is the Fed doing with our money?
What about the regulations keeping alternative energy out of the market?
Why have these congressmen been sending billions of our dollars overseas?
Why were most of the 9/11 hijackers Saudis?
Why are these candidates funded by multinational corporations? What promises are they giving?
What about the insane complexity of the IRS tax code and the corruption it promotes?
What about the way police departments across the country are run as predatory revenue agencies and not public services?
What about the growing national debt? Did we forget all about that?

Not really, its about gaining favor with the Republicans and anytime you mention Obama negatively, they get happy. Oh and Republicans hate Christie for the hug. So even though I personally didn't like it, doesn't mean it wasn't great for Republicans, they'll eat that up.

I wish he would bring up Trump and Eminent domain, and how he depends on the government to help him out

I haven't been impressed with his efforts but apparently I'm in the minority. I hope the polls show I'm wrong.

Agreed. I hope he's winning people over with this... He's got the issues, but the style seems off.

What Rand is doing is proving to the Republican voters that he will attack Clinton on the debate stage and hold her past actions and statements against her with out backing down. This was well orchestrated by Rand and his staff if you ask me.

And they probably expected NOT to get asked any questions like his father. Rand isn't going to play THEIR GAME so it's important to interject himself.

the republicans and media have geared these debates towards the lowest and presumed widest audience; instead of reasoning, emotion and the wwf of politics. our republic is dooomed.

Go to twitter type "rand" it's 99% negative comments about Rand. Buzz words are annoying, desperate, owned. I appreciate he tried to stand out tonight but he looks juvenile and it isn't going to work. Hopefully he handles the rest of the questions well going forward.
