Former Ron staffer: "Rand Must Denounce His Father To Win The Nomination"

According to the author in the OP, he thinks it would be a net gain because Rand would gain many more votes than he would lose.

How did the 'stabbing your followers in the back' strategy work for Jesse Benton and Ron Paul Inc the last time they did it? Maybe it's time we stop getting advice from politically-connected right wing weasels and actually stand for what's right for a change.

I have no doubt that Randco could care less about whether the likes of me votes for him or not.

This.

Give us your opinion on this advice, Matt. If you dare.

They'll care if the entire movement turns its back on Rand because of this. I'm pretty sure Rasmussen underestimates what the movement is capable of. We have enough support to steer an election away from him. Anyway, I highly doubt Rand would throw his dad under the bus.

Rand Paul’s former campaign manager David Adams once expressed hope that thirty percent of Ron Paul’s supporters will just go away rather than being a drag on Rand’s ambitions. He was right. That thirty percent has made Ron Paul the vessel for every crazy conspiracy theory and repugnant political idea that the liberty movement has permitted to linger at its fringe.

...

His father’s radical past and controversial present are obstacles to that objective.

What a shitty attitude.
If Rand Paul follows that advice, I'm done. Not that that's some great loss but whatever.

He would lose my vote if he ever did that.

He would lose mine as well and I'm a huge supporter of Randal. I'm not too worried about it though; he isn't going to do any such thing. These douchebags aren't speaking for Randal. I pay attention to what he actually says and writes rather than divisive assholes in the media and wannabe players.

I don't see it happening, but what this does do is it demonstrates what many of us have been saying for a long time: Ron Paul was pure gold, but the people he hired to run his campaigns were mostly crap.

In conversation after conversation with Republican activists, operatives and donors I have heard Ron Paul’s (often wrongly) perceived positions tied to Rand. “Isolationist”, “anarchist”, “anti-Semite,” and worse are common responses to the question, “What do you think of Rand Paul?” This is in spite of a herculean effort of Team Rand to define him in more moderate terms and carve out far more appealing policy positions. As I observed in my master’s thesis for George Washington University’s School of Political Management,

So, instead of addressing the lying accusations that are constantly hurled at Ron (anti-Semite, Isolationist, RACIST), Rand should just throw his dad away.

Hey, Rasmussen, take your master's degree and .............

If these all-knowing political operatives can't handle a minority of people with whom they vehemently disagree, then how in God's name will they handle foreign enemies, allies they don't like, and the other half of this misguided, socialist thinking country??

Count me in among those whose votes he would lose if he takes this advice. But y'all already knew that.

It is ironic that the author uses Marine Le Pen as the example of a politician denouncing their father in order to drive out the "holocaust deniers, racists and cranks." Since when Le Pen visited the states in 2011; she specifically requested and received a sitdown with Dr. Ron Paul. Which was well after she had begun distancing herself from her father.
