Forget another Blimp......we need grassroots commercials on TV!!!

Called CBS in Cedar Rapids and got a recording since it's after hours there. I'll try again in the morning.

A mock ad could be something along the lines of:

"Ron Paul is the only presidential candidate to predict the financial collapse of 2008 and propose a plan to address it. Vote for someone that has it right the first time. Ron Paul 2012"

"Ron Paul is the only presidential candidate to serve in the military. Ron predicted Osama Bin Laden's whereabouts in 2003 and proposed a plan to obtain and prosecute him. Vote for a veteran that puts our nation's safety first. Ron Paul 2012."

"Ron Paul is a former doctor that has been faithfully married for xxx years. He is the only candidate that lives in a normal sized home, within his means. Vote for someone that practices what he preaches. Ron Paul 2012."

Just simple, no nonsense hit pieces that speak to his character, his strengths, and his correct record.

Edit: Cinema ads are fairly expensive and you're missing a fairly large amount of GOP voters. I'd suggest using GoogleTV ads to target voters on FOX and other networks with a heavy, establishment republican viewing base.

I'm okay with that as long as there are dated clips of him in session speaking on the subject to PROVE that the ad is truthful. We need to use his own words and the words of his opponents in the ads.

Here's a site I found for movie theater advertising: http://www.movieadvertising.com/

Go to create plan and you can get an idea of how much it costs.

For example, this is what I got when selecting every city in Iowa that they have available, and selecting a 14 week plan:

I like this because it targets the non-political sheeple.

remember you are targeting people who tend to turn out at polls. i think the heavy demographic for movies is 18-35. 18-35 generally dont vote much. just sayin... id stick to local OTA news outlets.

I agree. I think local TV ads would be more effective. I just saw this on that cinema advertising site:

American moviegoer age demographics have shifted, he said. Today, the largest group of moviegoers is ages 40 through 59 -- 32 percent -- followed by 12- to 24-year-olds (28 percent) and 25- to 39-year-olds (27 percent).

just found this. don't know how reliable it is.

But how many are republicans?

You can be sure with GoogleTVAds you'll have the ability to place ads on a network that is heavy on republican viewers, and you can even pick 'em by time slot. Got most of the freedom watch crowd, but struggling with Hannity's viewers? Plug an ad during one of his commercial breaks...

Sounds good to meeee....

I'm sorry you had to go through rather extreme and unwarranted charges earlier in this thread. Thanks for really helping this idea shape up! Time allowing, I'd be more than willing to help in any way I can.

I personally think we should utilize more traditional television advertising. Movie theater ads haven't been tried and thus we don't have any historical data to evaluate their efficacy. I just want to be careful that we're putting our money in the right places.

The Pawlenty team has already researched effective ad markets and has decided to partner with Fox News in advertising to the Cedar Rapids, Des Moines, Omaha, Ottumwa, Rochester, and Sioux City media markets in Iowa, the same state that Ron Paul is making his biggest push (costing under $50,000). I think we should take advantage of Pawlenty's presumably expensive analysis and also buy into the same markets.

Lastly, here is the American Liberty Coalition, who helped put up ads for Ron Paul in the 2008 elections. You'll find some of the ads from last time that you may recall. It might be worth contacting them:

I wonder if the official campaign would be receptive to using grassroots tube clips for TV commercials?

Thanks for the kind words. I've been around here for a while, I know how snarky some are on these forums and I can dish it back. :D

I think you are on to something. Maybe we should put something together to submit to the campaign.

as long as copyright stuff isn't an issue i would assume yes. i think what stops most of the you tubes is copyright stuff right?

I've always thought the grassroots videos were way better than any official campaign's work for sure. if we could raise a million or two you could really have an impact. great thread...

This is great!! Great research, dude... That is actually not a crazy price either. Very attainable for the grassroots to get that 15 second slide slow or 30 second spot. I think this movie theatre ad in Iowa is brilliant.
