"For Liberty" movie premiere at Iowa theater

Awesome.. Thanks Chris!

It'd be great to have you there.. Would you be able to make it for the 6th? If not, when are you planning on coming into IA?

Damn I thought this was closer to the straw poll. We won't be down there until the 11th for the debate & straw poll.

The date isn't yet carved in stone, as it is hinging on Dr. Paul's availability. I'll keep you posted. I'm thinking we may be able to pull off the 12th.. We'll see how it develops.

12th would be amazing. The Friday between the debate and poll....perfect timing. Make it around 7pm IMO.

I like this. And I really like having it in Des Moines as well, if possible.

People would wake up on Saturday the 13th and it would be in their newspaper, maybe bringing a few more over to Ron Paul for the straw poll.

Another thought might be to have it earlier and see if it can be coordinated with Rand's visit, but that's pretty short notice.

+1 for Des Moines

+1 for Des Moines

Our only options in Des Moines would be

1) The Temple Theater, which can hold 282 guests. http://www.civiccenter.org/about_us/temple_theater.php
2) The Hoyt Sherman Place, which can hold 776 guests, and an additional 400 on the balcony. http://www.hoytsherman.org/
3) The Des Moines Civic Center, which has 2700 seats, and is likely to be far too expensive
4) The Simon Estes Amphitheatre - Outdoor venue in Des Moines. http://www.dmgov.org/Departments/Parks/Pages/SimonEstes.aspx

Option 1 is much more plausible, as #2 and #3 usually book large events, which generate ticket revenue. These are likely to be beyond what we would be capable of funding.. Also, I'd hate to book #4 and get rained out. I will try to get pricing for all tomorrow.

I'd like to see price quotes from these places, excellent work guys. This would get us some earned media and rally supporters I think. You might want to have a good number of DVDs for people to take home and Ron to sign perhaps...time permitting.

I can help supply campaign materials if it all works out. I'll set up a nice package to ship down!

This theater would be PERFECT.. It's just outside of Ames, seats about 400, and would be very affortable. http://www.storycitytheater.com/main.html

However, I just spoke with the owner, and he said that they are only capable of showing 35mm films, and I doubt that we could translate the digital data into a 35mm reel. Maybe Chris could offer some insight as to whether or not this is possible.

The little I know about 35mm film--I think that turning a CD to 35mm film is next to impossible within the time frame--unless the original documentary was taped in 35mm and you could somehow get access to it... However it was probably done in digital due to its release on the internet and not in theaters.

Film reel is out of the question. Move on to other theaters, the 35mm only ones are out. They need a video projector.

Got it. Luckily, the Pella Opera House can use digital video, so it looks like this may be our best bet.

Unfortunately, the theater is set up so that it can only use the built-in projector. Also, the owner didn't seem too fond of Dr. Paul. We may end up needing to rent a projector, however, so this info would be helpful.

Well, if he is pissy about Ron, forget his theater. :p
