Count me in for $3.

Make sure media is contacted and theres coverage. Did the robopolls include a question on someones SECOND choice for POTUS? Invite those folks and you'll have a much higher conversion rate.

It may be best to have an even mix or at least 1/3 of the folks who picked RP as second. This could help get another 300 votes in Ames. $1500 is cheap for the fact that it could get some media, and its something different than just radio/google/facebook ads; which are good, but different is good too.

Where's the chipin?

Bump.

I'm in for at least $10.

If advertised right, you should bring in a lot of other people to see the movie. You would generate press in the local community.

I was thinking of retired people, they vote, they like free entertainment, they aren't on the internet as much. I'd certainly throw in some cash if it were done right (which means not promoted toward people who are already in the Ron Paul camp.)

Guys, guys.. the idea hasn't died.. it hasn't even been 24 hours since I posted!

I e-mailed Ani form the official campaign to see what Ron's availability is. I'm waiting to hear back, so I can get us penciled in for a date and time.

Also, I've been working closely with the RP2012.org guys, so we can target our invitees very carefully. Ideally, I think we'd like to have 1/2 to 2/3 of the audience consist of non-supporters (Bachmann? Cain?)

I think this is a great idea. My first choice would be if someone is able to find somewhere good in Des Moines to show it. Then it's within a 40 min drive of the straw poll, in the biggest metro area in Iowa, but not blatantly trying to garner straw poll votes like it would appear to be if it was in Ames.

I'd chip for this

Also I'd think we'd want some RP supporters there just to clap and cheer and generally make our guy seem popular.

I will inquire.. but it does not seem as though they would have a very large seating capacity. I also contacted this theater, which is just north of Ames: http://www.storycitytheater.com/ . This one looks a bit more promising, however I'm not sure if they rent their facility. Further, the theaters I've contacted in New Hampshire are no less than 4k to rent.

Pella is a bit out of the way.. about an hour from Des Moines. Not exactly the best location for targeting potential straw poll-goers, but the campaign is running buses all over the state, so it's not the worst thing. Large-capacity theaters for rent are rather hard to come by in this area.

Amy, We have the robo-polling data, so the plan is to call and give personal invitations to non-Paul supporters.

Chip-in is up and running (see first post). I will be donating some myself as soon as I have some expendable income. It looks like we've got almost enough support just in this thread to make this happen!

Wouldn't only Ron Paul supporters attend though? I'm sure they'd bring friends and family which is great, but what about the mass of people that aren't supporters yet? How do you get the film to those people?

As I mentioned earlier, we can selectively invite people within driving distance who rp2012.org has already identified as, say, Bachmann, Cain, or Palin supporters. Once we have enough non-supporters RSVP'd, then we can open up the event to the public.

What Eric is saying (i believe), is why would someone who is NOT a Ron Paul supporter want to attend this movie? It's a movie about the Ron Paul Revolution....

I'd say this is partly true.. as not every person has the same affinity to their candidate as we do with Ron Paul. it's a FREE movie, and we could provide free refreshments, and a meet and greet with Ron Paul. I'm sure passive Palin, Cain, or Bachmann supporters would not object to an invitation.

Also, even if the theater were 100% Paul supporters, the media buzz alone would far exceed the $1500 we're spending to put on the event.

A lot of people are interested in learning more about who the man running for president is. I would go see a movie about Bachman to learn more if she had one.

Agreed.. though I would go to the bachmann movie solely to take a seat away from a potential supporter, and would bring along "Liberty: Defined" to occupy myself during :)

This is one of the hottest summers in decades. You offer people (ESPECIALLY the elderly) some free refreshments, and over a hour in nice air conditioning with free entertainment, and I bet you could fill up every seat.
