How was it? Any highlights to share? Talk to Ron?
It. was. awesome! It was Jeff Frazee who put me on that guest list and I couldn't have asked for a better time.
I didn't even try to talk to Ron, there were so many other's who had never gotten a chance and I've done things like have coffee at his house every morning during that congressional campaign you guys sent me down to help out with.
I did have the most awesome interaction with them ever though. If you look at the very end of the stream, just after he finishes his speech he goes to open a wet water bottle. I stepped up after I saw it slipping, he handed it to me and I quickly handed it back opened, getting a most awesome thank you nod and smile, then turning to see his son coming on stage I caught Carol looking at us and she broke out with a big smile and wave, to which I must've waved back like a joyful toddler.
The energy and vibe of the event was very much a white pill. As an AV guy it was weird being on the panel to begin with, but the feedback made things that much weirder. Hope I represented well.
Our side parties were great! Bryan and I had promoted a Karaoke night on Friday but upon arriving we found it had been cancelled. Pivoted in 15 minutes and ended up in a much better place. The table kept growing all night and this is not the final group.
And the after party needed a quick pivot, as well. They were getting close to closing the venue and a bunch of people started asking me where the party was... I was like, IDK until I finally stopped and looked, suggested a place called "Backyard Patio" and posted that to our group. Soon after I get a text from someone out doing recon, "Loud and crowded - standby" and soon after an alt spot that was exactly what I'd hoped to find. Except for my potato focus here, which had nothing to do with the bourbon, it was spontaneous chaos resolving into perfection
I'd post pics of beach day with Bryan's awesome set up, but I am a freaking klutz here and took me a while to get the above pics up. A couple more pics are here:
A strong sentiment pervades to use the energy to stoke the fires under the bastards feet. Bryan makes a good case that End the Fed is the most unifying issue, to say nothing of it ultimately being the most important.
It'd be great to see activism rise again...
