Extremely extremely dissappointed

Expired student visa's led to the demise of the twin towers,.
That is not true, what led to the twin towers -in respect to visa's- is a weak immigration policy!
Nobody asked how long these people stayed in the US with expired visas?
If there were a real strong policy, these guys would be out once their Visas were expired!

then they would just kill American before thier visas expires, hello.

That is assinine, there is NOTHING neo conservative about protecting the American public.

That's how they justified the Iraq war and the Patriot Act. "Protecting the American public". The ad employs the same scare tactics that play on irrational xenophobia that the neoconservatives used in 2006.

Yeah but the American public has been through many wars cold and otherwise and have never given up freedom, this scare tactic was designed to make the American public feel OK with the loss of there 1st ammendment right so that the Government wouldn't have that pesky document getting in the way of thier agenda.

On the other hand Ron Paul is taking nothing away from you and providing you with security while he deals with Foriegn policy so we can eliminate the hatred and then the threat.

The theat is there, it is very undefined and proper measures must be taken to ensure that when the visas are extended abroad there is a minimal threat to you and I.

The fear-mongering in the ad (regarding student visas) is disproportionate with the actual threat of student visas. We've been attacked by 1 terrorist with a student visa. We issue 200,000 student visas a year.

One thing this thread has taught me is that the world "neocon" is the most overused on this forum. Apparently a neocon is:
1. anyone who disagrees with Paul's foreign policy
2. anyone who doesn't support political correctness when talking about immigration

Neocons are "new conservatives", and by that they are similar to Democrats in more ways than they are to traditional conservatives. The interventionist policies of "neocons" are only one aspect of the new conservative movement. Possibly even more importantly, neocons have supported essentially open borders, similar to Democrats.

So while the huge numbers of Democrats and libertarians here may not agree with Paul's immigration ad, he is being the polar opposite of a "neocon" on this issue.

Also, while we have benefitted from immigration in the past, in order to allow the melting pot to work we have taken "timeouts" from importing large numbers of people. Too many folks have been brainwashed by elite media about things like immigration and diversity that any steps to limit immigration to traditional levels (pre-1965 was around 200,000 per year) is viewed as "racist" or "collectivist", and that same thinking apparently applies to anyone wanting to put a stop to illegal immigration. The race industry has really done a number on the brains of American citizens. The founders absolutely never intended us to become a "tangle of squabbling nationalities". And by that I mean hyphenated Americans, rather than just plain ol' Americans. Not only is the concept of sovereignty being attacked by the race industry but even the concept of a colorblind society going by the wayside -- to the PC thought police race matters more than ever. People are no longer Americans, they're African-Americans, Mexican-Americans, etc. I believe the responses to Paul's ad are evidence that the melting pot is indeed broken.

You meant neo-conservatives I think. They are often past radical left wingers with Marxist backgrounds who converted and became far right wingers, often are seen labeling other countries as evils or residing on 'axis of evil' and then using those labels as pretext to go to wars against them while having ulterior agenda. They are fake conservatives as such and a threat to real conservative movement.

I was little perturbed too after I first saw the ad but have decided to ignore it as a campaign mishap in a charged political atmosphere. It became easy to do so after looking at the bigger picture.

For what it's worth:

I have also been pretty conflicted about the message of the recent controversial ad. Having been invested in this campaign like many of you for some time now, I went back and watched again some of Ron Paul's videos and policy statements on foreign policy, war, liberties issues and hard to miss a conviction there for which we have come to admire Ron Paul and that is not consistent with tone of this ad. This ad seems to be a campaign slip up to lure some votes and it shows Ron Paul campaign is not perfect. I suggest we treat it as such and file it under 'campaign slip ups' (unless of course campaign gives us another reason and puts out another ad like this). Let's focus on the truly magnificent message that Ron Paul has articulated himself in his own words and that differentiates him from rest of the candidates who will basically keep status quo in foreign and domestic policies. Ron Paul was one of the very few leaders who had the foresight and courage to stand up and oppose Iraq war when it wasn't fashionable to do so. I say we ignore this one ad and give the good doctor's official campaign benefit of the doubt. There is no better candidate out there all things considered, let's continue to fully support Ron Paul at this critical time to make things better in America and in the World.

Based on Pat Buchanan's Where the Right Went Wrong, neoconservatives (new conservatives) were as you describe, left wingers. As far as them being "far right", as far as I can tell... maybe they're so far to the right that they're back on the left again. :p

They are fake conservatives as such and a threat to real conservative movement.

The perfect description of neocons in my opinion.

Agree. This ad was really a low pander to Tancredo's ex-supporters. If that is the spirit of peace and commerce with all nations, entangling alliances with none I must have misread my Washington. I would be surprised if Paul actually approved that ad. I think/hope sometimes his staffers get in the way of his ideology to promote more expedient messages.
