One thing this thread has taught me is that the world "neocon" is the most overused on this forum. Apparently a neocon is:
1. anyone who disagrees with Paul's foreign policy
2. anyone who doesn't support political correctness when talking about immigration
Neocons are "new conservatives", and by that they are similar to Democrats in more ways than they are to traditional conservatives. The interventionist policies of "neocons" are only one aspect of the new conservative movement. Possibly even more importantly, neocons have supported essentially open borders, similar to Democrats.
So while the huge numbers of Democrats and libertarians here may not agree with Paul's immigration ad, he is being the polar opposite of a "neocon" on this issue.
Also, while we have benefitted from immigration in the past, in order to allow the melting pot to work we have taken "timeouts" from importing large numbers of people. Too many folks have been brainwashed by elite media about things like immigration and diversity that any steps to limit immigration to traditional levels (pre-1965 was around 200,000 per year) is viewed as "racist" or "collectivist", and that same thinking apparently applies to anyone wanting to put a stop to illegal immigration. The race industry has really done a number on the brains of American citizens. The founders absolutely never intended us to become a "tangle of squabbling nationalities". And by that I mean hyphenated Americans, rather than just plain ol' Americans. Not only is the concept of sovereignty being attacked by the race industry but even the concept of a colorblind society going by the wayside -- to the PC thought police race matters more than ever. People are no longer Americans, they're African-Americans, Mexican-Americans, etc. I believe the responses to Paul's ad are evidence that the melting pot is indeed broken.
