Emerson College Poll: McAuliffe 42, Cuccinelli 40, Sarvis 13

Sarvis has more in this poll then almost any other I have seen, and Cuccinelli is only two points down! The momentum has shifted. One reason I believe libertarian candidates never seen to do as well at the polls, is because of they lack of a GOTV system. Cuccinelli's seems to be doing well. Add in an off year election, and this is a very winnable race.

If Cuccinelli had two more weeks, he could have beaten this bum by 5 points. Obamacare was the mother of all gifts, but it may be too late.

Hopefully some of the Sarvis people switch to Cuccinelli at the last min.

I honestly hope that when it comes time to tick the box on the ballot Sarvis will lose 5-7% on his polling numbers and they go to Ken. I really think a lot of people will realise the idiocy of voting for Sarvis and how bad McAuliffe will really be if elected.

Turnout will be the decider as usual in this type of race. Team blue is awfully dejected, but they pump out those votes in the urban districts. There is no Obama up-ticket to carry stragglers though. McAuliffe is a very uninspiring candidate.

Well I would have told anyone polling that I was voting for Ron Paul in the past 2 elections. Then in the general I voted for the Libertarian Party because why not give em some points that will actually show up. So hopefully this is just a representation of how people feel, rather than vote.

I actually hope Sarvis will get at least 10% so the LP can be on the ballot until 2024. For once I'd like to see some competition against the duopoly and I doubt every member of the Virginia LP is as bad as Sarvis is. As for Cuccinelli I could gave a rats ass. He's worse than Sarvis and Sarvis isn't good by any stretch of the imagination.

VA house is 67-32 Gang R.
Even if McAuliffe gets in, hard gang D policy won't get through.

Vote Sarvis :)

exactly the republicans control it and they do the same as the dems. At least we have an excuse in colorado since the dems control, but big gov in va is on the gop shoulders. Gang R in Va are really big gov republicans.

Cuccinelli supports marijuana legalization.

Marijuana legalization is the issue you care most about.

Why the fuck do you support Sarvis?

I still like that BenSwann.com calls out and exposes Sarvis.

Is The Virginia Gov. Libertarian Candidate Even A Libertarian?

Cuccinelli and Rand also called out Sarvis for that.

“There’s only one candidate that will defend the Fourth Amendment, that will defend the Sixth Amendment, and it’s Ken Cuccinelli,” said Paul.

Asked after his speech why Cuccinelli is better than the third-party challenger, Paul said he has heard Sarvis wants to create forms of taxation – “which is not a very libertarian idea.”

“I don’t know a lot about his platform,” said Paul. “I like a lot of the things Ken Cuccinelli stands for.”

Cuccinelli essentially ignored Sarvis for months, but trailing Democrat Terry McAuliffe in the high single digits in poll after poll, he’s become more willing to attack directly.
“I am indisputably the strongest liberty candidate ever elected statewide in Virginia in my lifetime,” he now says at almost every event. “It’s not even close.”
He lit into Sarvis after George Will wrote a column last week praising the third-party candidate and suggesting Virginians should vote for him to register dissatisfaction with both parties.
Cuccinelli read a quote to reporters in Richmond Saturday from an interview Sarvis gave Reason Magazine in which he said, “I’m not into the whole Austrian-type strongly libertarian economics.”
“He’s not really a libertarian economically,” Cuccinelli said. “That kind of defines a libertarian to me.”

VA also needs protection from tax increasing Republicans. The current GOP leadership in the state pushed through massive tax increases. There is a good chance, that if Ken was the current governor, he might have been able to stop the devastating new taxes. I know it sounds silly, elect a GOP because the GOP is so bad, the voters must be protected from the GOP, but it might just work.

Is that where we are? We only care about preventing hard gang D policy? What about all that middle of the road policy like McDonnell's transportation bill? A Governor Cuccinelli would have vetoed that. And what about possible advancements in liberty? Is the plan to ride out 4 years of McAuliffe and herald in a new era of a strong LP really a sound plan?
