I disagee with spending thousands on a new rv trasnmission. You apparently feel that warrants calling my integrity into question?

Here is an idea that will work for all involved. We put money in the till to buy or lease one of these fabulous vehicles for Ron Paul, send the rv that the granny warriors currently have back to their home and have the Grannies be the drivers and or escorts of the new one. I am sure the DOC could use one of these things to his advantage

I think the Grannies are a valuable resource. I'm not sure what's the problem.

I saw them in fort lauderdale and they were a supplier of Tshirts, Buttons, and a bunch of promotional materials.

People who recently joined the Ron Paul gang were able to grab those kinds of material on the spot! When you have a rally and a bunch of Ron Paul supporters gathered I think it's great the grannies are there to sell those items.

They are a huge constant billboard for Ron Paul. If exposure and seeing Ron Paul's name in the street is NOT important why are a hundred meet up groups having National Paint the Town Ron this weekend???

Most of those signs and banners will be pulled down but we continue to do it. The granny's RV is a great advertisement, and with all the supplies they have when they show up to the various big rallies, they are giving people the ability to also create more exposure with Tshirts, buttons, signs. slimjims, etc.

I think donating to the campaign is #1 priority, but I think efforts like the granny warriors are also quite valuable.

That's a great idea Dave, however you can bet that 'matching funds' helped purchase or lease those high end RVs, and since Ron won't take matching funds it is unlikely a high end RV is in the budget.

has anyone gotten on the phone with Aamco? I think they are franchises, aren't they? We should contact the owner of that particular AAMCO and convince that a discount along with free advertising would be MUCH appreciated by the legions of Ron Paul supporters in the area. Politely, of course. I just wish we could have done this before the thing actually went into the shop....

Any idea how much the RVs those guys drive cost? Romney's STARTS at 290k for a 43'er, before custom interiors, added features, or custom paint jobs. The pain job alone on that sucker is probably over 50k.

There are certainly some ripoff joints out there. That's for sure. They especially like to prey on women. I'm not quite sure what we can do to help them on that at this point. Any ideas? She seems to think they're committed with these guys at this point. Do we have any mechanics on-line here? If so, I wonder if it would be beneficial to call the mechanic at the number Linda listed above and ask some questions.

I am not a mechanic, but I learned over the years that unless the parts are there (likely not) you can cancel the work done and just ask for a bill for what was done and perhaps a restocking/shipping fee on parts. If they feel uncomfortable talking to them, have someone from a meetup group (maybe even a mechanic, no does not have to specialize in transmissions) do the talking for them.

Always get a second opinion and quote (in writing).

If you are in NY city (manhattan) or a place like NYC, get the hell out of Manhattan and get your car towed out of there to some outside mechanic. Even if you are close to a mechanic in NYC.

I've never been to AAMCO, but I have been to some franchises (which AAMCO is), and some of them will steal you blind. They're called parts changers and will fix what doesn't need to be fix (sometimes they don't even replace the parts, just charge you).

Unless there is a good independent mechanic into RVs in that area, try to find a dealership. Franchises are usually the 3rd and last resort.

I don't know enough about mechanics to be any help here. If one or two of you do, why don't you try emailing Linda directly and talking to her. Maybe even getting her phone number and discussing the options with her.
