Dear Candidates:
The verification and counting of provisional ballots in Congressional District 4 has concluded. There has been one change in the final results: Sharon Nixon was elected as a delegate and Flo Alexander was not. The specific number of votes for each candidate in District 4 will be updated on our website, www.lagop.com, tomorrow morning.
The verification and counting of provisional ballots in Congressional District 6 has concluded and the additional ballots did not affect the outcome of any races. The updated results in District 6 are posted at www.lagop.com.
We are working with registrars of voters across the state in an effort to quickly conclude this process. Thus far, approximately 2/3 of the individuals who cast provisional ballots have been identified by registrars as Democrats or Independents. Their ballots, of course, will not be counted or added to the totals of any district.
As a reminder, the results in Districts 3 and 7 are final because the number of provisional ballots in both districts is smaller than the margin of victory between the 15th and 16th finishers in those Delegate and Alternate elections.
Thank you for your patience during this process as we attempt to make sure the results are 100% accurate.
Thank you once again for your participation in the 2008 Louisiana Republican Caucuses.
