Email from Louisiana Republican Party

I have proof sitting right here on my desk. My card says Dec-26 and my form says Nov 30th. I asked them over and over "there is no application date in the computer?" and they replied "no, all we have is when we entered the changes to your registration (which was Dec 16 or 17) and the card issue date."

I hope every other district is doing what you're doing!!!!

Well, part of what we are doing is getting the individuals to go to their local courthouse and get the proof first hand.
If your registrar of voters office didn't handle your application correctly you need to call the secretary of state's office about it.

I switched over on Nov 28th. My card issue date is 12-03-07.
I went to the registrar of voters office and got a certified copy of my change of party card with the date and notarized.
But after going through all of that... they had me on the list.

Well, that's good and bad news. Maybe I am in the minority, most people in my situation were on the list after all, and we won't win back many votes.

I won't feel nearly so bad about us coming in 2-3% behind the "uncommitted" front runners if all our votes get counted.

Either way, thanks again for all your effort to make sure our votes are counted.

The campaign paid to get copies of all the provisional ballots, right? Did they get any kind of a list from LA GOP of which of them were disqualified?

If they have the list of disqualified ballots, they can check them against their database to find the Ron Paul supporters, get their contact info, give them a call and ask them if they registered in time, and if they have proof of it. If they don't have proof, ask them to go to the courthouse and get the proof. Then they can fax their proof to the campaign office, and the campaign can submit them to the LA GOP.

For that matter, a few volunteers could probably do this for all of the remaining provisionals that haven't been verified yet that match up with the database of Ron Paul supporters. I'd think they'd get through the rest of the list in a day, and save the LA GOP some time. It seems to me that the LA GOP is really dragging their feet on this, checking maybe 100 ballots a day.

If the campaign office doesn't have the list of disqualified provisionals yet, offer to do this to help out, and the LA GOP will have to give you the list to do the job.

This is the second email:

Dear Candidates:

The verification and counting of provisional ballots in Congressional District 1 has concluded. There has been one change in the final results: Michelle Gaudin was elected as a Delegate and Eddie Price was not. The specific number of votes for each candidate in District 1 will be updated on our website, www.lagop.com, later this evening. There was no change in the results of the Alternate election.

The verification and counting of provisional ballots in Congressional District 2 has concluded. Benjamin Montgomery and Oliver Coleman were elected as delegates and Robert Ellis was not. J. T. Hannan and Fenn French are now tied for 15th place. Both will be contacted on Monday to discuss a procedure for breaking the tie. The specific number of votes for each candidate in District 2 will be updated on our website, www.lagop.com, later this evening. There was no change in the results of the Alternate election.

The verification and counting of provisional ballots in Congressional District 5 has concluded. There has been one change in the Delegate election: Lisa Cripps was elected as a delegate and Stan Neathery was not. There has been one change in the Alternate election: Jan Higashi was elected as an Alternate and Bobby Levy was not. The specific number of votes for each candidate in District 5 will be updated on our website, www.lagop.com, later this evening.

Approximately 2/3 of the individuals who cast provisional ballots statewide have been identified by registrars of voters as Democrats or Independents. Their ballots, of course, will not be counted or added to the totals of any district.

This concludes the counting of ballots for the 2008 Louisiana Republican Caucuses. Please note that as the website is updated this evening, the link to a particular district election will be changed to red once the final results are posted. Our staff will be available on Monday at 9:00 am to answer any questions you may have about the results. Information concerning registration for the Republican State Convention to be held at 10:00 a.m.on Saturday, February 16th in Baton Rouge will be distributed to Delegates and Alternates next week.

Thank you once again for your participation in the 2008 Louisiana Republican Caucuses.

Jason Doré, J.D.
Communications/Political Director

Sandra, do you happen to know any of the people that were newly elected? Maybe somebody else could check if they were on "our" list?
I see, that 2/3 figure still stands... :(

Would it still be possible for someone to go to the registrars office and have them find the original change of party card with a date on it. Also, they have to keep track of the paper applications to change party somewhere, do you think they organize them in the file cabinet by date. If so, could somebody still go look for their paper app to show they registered in time?
